I was wondering if any one had come up with a solution to a problem that we may all have to face at some point due to the lack of parts availability. Cv axle replacement is inevitable at some stage and we can't keep using second hand stuff forever. Any solutions?

with the rate that these cars are being parted out, i think there are plenty of spares to go around

Indeed, and the driveline is probably the most robust part of these cars.

With NA diffs skyline joints should work fine and there's a decent aftermarket industry for them, TT diffs will be harder once we run out but probably available from the USA

I gave the U.S. A serious look. Apart from the odd ripoff trying to get 4 or 500 U.S.,for a second hand part there wasn't much around. One company re birthed them but they were out of stock. The parts to rebuild aren't made any more and it seems nothing else will fit, probably because of the massive spline diameter of the wheel hub shaft.

Try Jesse Streeter in Japan and see what he and his contacts can come up with.

Flick him an email with what you need, a lot of people highly recommend him.

Thanks for that.Im not using the motors full potential as it is because of drive line issues but that site gave me plenty of options. Now if I can find someone to buy my children....

I must have thrown out 12-20 TT diffs and double that of drive shafts over the years. No one wanted them...

So long as the ball bearings, cage, race and housing are good, you can clean the old cv grease out, slip new boots onto the shaft if they are weathered and repack with cv grease.

I'll give this a go to but I think part of the cause may be electrolysis from a minor power Leake. No evidence of damage yet but my eyes are pretty shit these days.
