    Hi Everyone,
hoping to get some idea of whats wrong, The AVC R boost solenoid as pictured:
[IMG] the picture is from the tech section not my actual one
It started making a buzzing noise like a fuel pump starving when I started the engine to come home, at first it was only under low load acceleration but not while idling but by the time i got home it was constant, could it be a boost leak or is the solenoid stuffed?
    Thanks
    Bruce

Thanks, but no. I already have a manual but there's n mention of a buzzing sound.
It says there should be a clicking sound of the duty cycle but it has been working fine and not audible at all.

So today the problem seems to have subsided a bit, after tightening the clamps on the intercooling pipes and checking other connections, unplugging and replugging the solenoid.
It buzzes when i turn the key like its priming or something then runs fine and sometimes when i switch the engine off it will buzz for a few seconds.
I noticed that when i hit the loud peddle it used to make (1bar) 14psi at 5800rpm fairly easily (also its an auto with a shift kit) but today doing the same thing it only made .76bar 11psi. does that mean anything?
anyway i've trying to find somebody that might know something about them in Brisbane, i went to gt autos in Newmarket where ive been before but they've closed down so does anybody know of any workshops that play with after market products on nissans or if i could get a replacement one locally?
Ive seen them on the website just like mine, http://www.apexi-usa.com/store/electronics/avc-r.html
    Cheers

I used to have one of these, great boost controller. They will typically cycle when the controller sees a 0 manifold pressure or higher so its not unusual for them to click repeatedly with the engine stopped until it produces vacuum. If you are familiar with what they normally sound like and now you notice that its making a different sound then you can assume the solenoid has failed or close to it considering the results are not as you would expect.

Have you tried increasing the duty cycle to get the boost back up?
