    Fellow Zedders,

Can anyone help me with installation of the kit? Or know someone who could? Its a bolt on kit (bought from CARZ - member here). This kit is designed for Z32 so no holes are required to be drilled and should be straight forward installation but don't quote me on that. However there could be air intake inside the fenders that may need to be removed/relocated/deleted. I asked one of the panel beaters and he quoted me obnoxious price!

    Cheers

Have worked on a Z with these yes I believe the AIV (I think that is what is called) system needs to be removed from inside the guards. Also found the struts were prone to failing - the Z door is quite heavy - and the gaps were pretty average. that said I only worked on the car's bumpers and skirts not the doors. do note that the set on the car I worked on had to be opened about 250mm before they would/could lift due to the nature of seals pillars and latches etc.

I have had these for quite a few years now so hopefully shall be able to provide you with some answers

The zed doors are stupid heavy & the shocks that the kits come with are not strong enough which i found out the hard way after installing...mine came with 400lbs shocks so currently got 750lbs shocks. I have had to replace 2 of the shocks on the driver side in total as it gets used a lot more, so not bad at all considering how many years i have had it.

Mine is a bolt on kit aswell but i ended up welding it on just for piece of mind. Dont want to cause any damage having a doors up on a windy day...just in case. So its upto you if you want to leave it bolted on or want to secure it a bit more by welding it.

Not a hard job to do if you got the time which i sure didnt so i got my panel beater to do it for me. The front bar, both guards & doors need to come off, then its a straight swap of the hinges. Pretty straight forward however quite time consuming as getting the doors aligned once installed can take some time & several tries to get it to sit perfect.

Get ready to hear all the negative comments from all the people that cannot respect the fact that its your car so your choice of modification lol...so if you like it then install it & enjoy it & it will sure turn quite a few heads & ive always gotten lots of questions & nice comments about the doors at the car shows ive been to. So its all a matter of personal taste, so enjoy it.

    Hope that helps.

I agree there are a lot of haters, I think that many of us in the Z forums are too much against things non stock and while I respect that ideal I dont think its the only way to look at things. I believe the Z is actually exotic enough in its lines to pull these doors off with no issues, its not like its a civic.

The Struts in the one I worked on were also 400lbs and were the second set to have gone in according to the owner.

Where in NSW? I can help for likely a lot less then your panel beater.

    If you attempt yourself.
The driver side inner fender has like a vent hole. You will need to beat that flat/in about 10mm to clear the vertical swinging arm of the kit.

Other than that it should be relatively straight forward,
Just make sure to use a little lock tight on the weight bearing 8 hinge bolts, or you'll end up having to realign them every few weeks as they will wiggle loose.

For what it's worth I think what the panel beater quoted was very reasonable considering the time involved and making sure the panel gaps are correct and that the doors open/close smoothly. There's a lot of time involved and some degree of "black magic" with getting gaps etc to look factory.

You said it spot on Rob took a day to get one door spot on with mine.
Holding the door is a full on job,not lite :agree:

For what it's worth they're not really vertical...more diagonal opening doors.

Now what would be innovative is incorporating the targa roof system into some gullwing doors...that would be some unique sh!t right there.
