Before I cop the "you're lowering the value of your car" abuse, FYI the compressor seized 2 years after I bought the zed and the condenser had leaked all the gas out a long time ago. So I finished full aircon removal today, here are some weights for anyone interested: Compressor + mount: 11.4kg Interior evaporator: 3.2kg Condenser + hardlines + drier + aux fan: 9.1kg Total weight saving: 23.7kg Wasn't as much weight as I thought, you could easily lose that much by dumping the electric driver's seat for a 1 piece bucket. So here's a question, is there a point in keeping the aux fan with no aircon? I believe it kicks in if coolant temp exceeds 104C but I don't think my zed has ever gone up there.
i would have thought more weight also. but there you go. still 23.7kg less to lug around with you. while you could remove the auxilary fan, you'd be lucky if it wayed what, 2kg? id be inclined tio leave it if it does come on at hot temps.
I pulled my cabin condenser out with the dash all together, just remove the glove box and figure out where the bolts are for the box, then lots of pulling and jimmying.
seen many people remove that fan, if you do though should make up like a nice air dam i think like mattz did once but cant remember if he had a prob with it running too cool lol
