Just an interesting thing i thought i would pass on. Went to Gembrook in victoria on Sunday, had lunch with a number of our friends. My mate has a 66 mustang nice example of that model

My Z was parked in front of him right outside were we had lunch so we could see what was going on. People and number were women, were taking pictures of both our cars, and also were peering inside.

As much as there were more modern and more expensive automobiles out there, none were drawing as much attention as the 300zx. Yes the 300zx has still got it. Yer yer. Anyone got a same story to tell.Cheers Bigmax.

    Nice!

I'll never forget the day when I had mine, that a work colleage said "We must be paying you too much".

"Why? HOw much do you think it's worth?" I asked.

    "Gotta be at least $40K"

He was gobsmacked when I let him know what they're worth.

That was a good few years ago of course but I'll lever forget it. And mine was.....cosmetically challenged.

Always feels good when people stop and have a look at your ride isnt it.......

i particulry notice when we are on group cruises that people often stop and turn and stare as we drive past or when we are parked up.

I've only recently bought my first 300ZX. My Mrs has never understood the attraction. She just doesn't see the 300ZX the way we all do. Anyway, it was our first outing in the Z. Roof off, a quick little drive from Drouin to Yarragon for a coffee. After we were done, we hopped back into the car to head home. There was a kid on the side of the road watching us, totally admiring the car. As we drove off, he grabs his phone and starts taking pictures. The Mrs says "seriously? taking pictures?" It was a classic moment. I just grinned!

Gotta love the 300ZX. It's at an age now where it should be looking dated and ugly and yet it still turns heads and looks totally amazing. Thank you Toshio.

I still get people stop and stare as I drive past on weekends going through town.
(As bad as it sounds) Young kids love looking at it as I drive past. (That whole Lamborghini poster factor)

Most of my friends are S Chassis owners, so the Z stands out and always grabs more attention.

    The Z is great!!!
I get the most looks when the Targa's are off and i'm cruising down the highway.
Even driving into University I get people posting on the Facebook groups asking who owns the Navy Blue Zed @ QUT Kelvin Grove/Gardens Point.
After a great cruise up Mt Nebo and Glorious, I had to wash my car at a car wash to get all the bugs off it
Two minutes into washing the car, I notice this bloke eyeing me and my car.
After I finished washing it, he comes over and strikes up a conversation about how he used to have one years ago and how it is great to see one in such good condition again how it brings back memories.
When I was taking some cover photos of my car at Coomera River, this bloke with his kid walks up and say "If i had a car like that, i'd be taking photos too", ended up telling him what the car was and he learned a thing or two, but he thought it looked great.
Plenty of stories to tell in just my few years of zed ownership haha :zlove:

My favourite is when I was leg for leg with a modified R35 at snowy last year to have people come up when I rolled into the pit saying
"Wow, not bad for a 10yr old Nissan keeping up with a R35"..

I'd simply reply "24 year old"

To which almost got a unanimous "*jaw drop* holy F***"

I'll never forget one cruise when we were all going past. Couple of young girls standing at a junction waiting to cross the road.

And I heard one of them say to the other "Ferrari's. Gotta be Ferraris"

Yep - watching 5yr old kids admire your car sometimes makes all the trouble of having one worth it!

Had some 80-90 yr olds once having a close look one day - debating whether it was a ferrari - that was quite a tickle given their excitement.

Had a young lass one day step out into the middle of the road, lift her top and ask if I could give her a lift home! Nothing has beaten that till this day - and it made me love my Z more to this day!

Seems my car gets called something else more often than it gets called a Z

The good part is that its always something "exotic" !

I remember when I first got my current engine in, I had run it down to the local servo to put some fuel in and popped the bonnet to just make sure I was not losing any vital fluids etc and some older chap walks up asking what it was and how great it looked then looks at the engine - picks his jaw up and says "if you can even get in there what are you supposed to do with all that stuff"

One of the most memorable experience i had in the zed was when i was circling the block looking for parking with a friend of mine, all of a sudden this kid walking past with his mom just shouted "WHOAAAAAAA!!" while pointing my zed. I just smiled and my friend just couldn't help it and she just broke down laughing.

I find it funny because we are so use to the Z. Whether or not it's a daily or a weekender, I like to think even if I had a Lamborghini as a daily...Would I also get use to it and think of it as a regular car...even though it clearly isn't.

my only observation at scrutineering say at a hillclimb or something the scrutineers can't
believe you can't put even two fingers doen the side of the engine without being blocked by an engine too big for and wide the engine bay, they ask how do work on that its like a V12 jaguar XJS engine bay no room for a spanner to fall even

    Pure bs!

    Pure BS!!!

My engine bay has now claimed a 10mm spanner and a 12mm spanner as well as other assorted nuts and bolts - never to be seen again. I must confess however that one day when going around a corner I heard a twang and when I went back - found my 10mm spanner on the road.

Still waiting for my 12mm though - it doesn't look good because the engine is out - and there is still a missing spot in my spanner case!

The VG30DETT is the black hole of engine bays!

Anything can get in there - you just don't get it back!
