    Hypothesis;
Your heater core has already been bypassed
You decide to take your Zed for a cruise on a rather heavy rainy day
You feel a few drips on your right ankle (low cut shoes and socks) and pay little attention.
You come up to a tight ish right hand turn and whilst mid way through that turn your right foot gets soaked!

    Question
Where the hell would this water be coming from? And how does it be fixed?

First person with the correct solution gets a beer.

    Go..

Drain hose that runs down from roof inside the A-pillar has come off??

You have a rust hole in your AC/wiper cowling. It fills with water, and is leaking down thru the dash below the windscreen.

Given it was right hand turn - I would say the targa drain hose
If it was a left hand turn - then I would have said from the cowl

There is nothing else it could be

So am I too late or will I get half a beer?

Check from the bottom to make sure the hole is not blocked - you can run air through the top if its not disconnected - but it actually sounds like it is disconnected - hence the water running out - you can check that by taking off the A - Pillar Plastic fitting (hose runs behind that) Fix it asap or the A Pillar will rust out - make sure you get all the water out when you do!

    Good luck with it

    Car is a slick top.
Would the hose still be in the a pillar?

I was thinking a rust hole under the cowl trim too. Although with a new windscreen in a month ago while cleaning I didn't notice any surface rust under there anywhere.

    Beers all round.
Next time your in Hobart give me a yell :D

The gutter under the cowl has rubber flaps either end, if they fill with debris and block up water will pool there and rust it out.

The spigot for the aircon intake also rusts due to a poor design with sealing, but any water from that will just soak your ecu or passenger.

Your new windscreen was not sealed correctly ?. Re seal it correctly.

I'd think the best way to find out would be to stick ya head under and see where it's dripping from?

The screen was replaced a month ago. Whilst they had it out and prepped the new screen I cleaned all the crud out e there. To my surprise there wasn't much gunk at all. And I could see no rust.

Don't tell me that. It took the clowns 2 weeks to get the new screen in!

Pulled the mats and carpet back earlier.
Ill get in there and have a good look as soon as I can. Be Friday I reckon.

    Thanks guys.

Lol, Yeah just whip it out, squirt on some sealer and pop it back in.....they're not prone to breaking at all ;)

    New theories

    Ok..
Problem 1 (owning a business and working from home)
Procrastinating from work and investigating zed problems.
    Lmao

Bonnet off cowl off seat out. Had a real good look under there.

There is zero rust under the cowl (that I can see)
Under the dash looks fine (no discolouration, fuse side looks dry, feels dry)

The only place I can see water coming from is the foot heat outlet
Suspiciously directly above my foot where the water was coming from.

Can water enter into the fresh air inlet pipes in any way.
    And where

And it's stranger still that the passenger side is dry. I thought the pass side was the lowest point hence why heater core dumps flood that side.

Oh. Slicktops dont have the pipe from the a pillar either.
    In case you were wondering

Could you have a situation that some how rain is getting into the heater core pipes at the back of the motor that have been left open (you took the hoses off when you did a by pass ) and leaking out of the disconnected core . I doubt this would be happening but just putting it up as a crazy ass idea.

The heater pipes going through the firewall are open so I guess it's an option.

The answers that I'm getting is ac condenser drain line

    Un plugged hole in firewall.

    Options I'm still considering.

Pooling water under cowl, surging into air inlet and down to drivers side footwell. Although I would expect all air to go through the heater core and the central air duct. Making the water have to travel uphill to hit my foot.

I may bite the bullet and pull the dash. (Pulled almost everything else apart, seems fair the dash gets a go :p )

is it conceivable for water to ingress through the inlet door, sideways through the cooling and the heating core, further sideways through a misconnecting duct and out the outlet above the right foot?

When you got wet did you have the AC going? Does the condensate drain work (puddle when you park with the AC going)?

I did have the ac going trying to de fog the windows. And I will be checking that drain this weekend.

Well that's a complete fkn mystery.

Pulled everything out from under the dash I could, inspected and reassembled.
Jacked her up put her on stands and de clogged the ac drain line. Seemed a little clogged but hard to tell.

Still have no idea wtf was going on. Next step is to find another rainy day and keep the ac off this time and see if I can replicate the problem. If not it was ac drain. If so I got bigger problems. Like a windscreen seal or something.

    To be continued......

Did you check behind the drivers side foot well trim?

Its possible that the cavity was filling up with water and not draining fast enough during heavy rain.

A sharp right would of caused a couple of liters to come out if it was full.
