No it doesnt, I am talking about lifters that have been dismantled and serviced. Its easy to overfill them so to be on the safe side I leave them soft.
I fill them and make sure they compress about 3mm before refitting them. Lost count of the number of times people refit lifters to find they hold valves open and the engine will not start. They fill correctly quite quickly if under filled initially and just make a bit of lifter noise as they refill with oil. Usually only takes 5 minutes or so.
Ok so the way that I read this is that a soft lifter that we can phush down is low on oil, and it will prime its self when the engine is started but with a frw rattles. and that the one soild lifter tht we have on this rebuild is normal or or full but once it satrted it will fix its self , if I have it wrong I glad go and pour another class of wine and reread the thred, but if I correct I will still pour out another glass and go back out to shed and keep working
The issue with a solid lifter that you have rebuilt is that if you cant move the inner in the outer you dont know if its fully located and not binding plus you dont know if the height is right which is dependant on what cams you have. By the way what wine are you drinking? Doesnt have to be very good to make it the preferable option.
