    Hi Guys,

Just looking for some advice on spoiler installation, unfortunately the bolts on the spoiler have been cut / broken which i didn't know before purchase, so if I install it myself would it be safe to attach the spoiler to the car with only sikaflex and if so which one should I use?

I would prefer semi permanent so I can remove it if i need a new hatch for any reason or ever wanted to sell the wing, anyone have any experience with this?

If there would be significant risk of the spoiler being pulled off at speed, how could I safely attach the spoiler in case the silicone let go? Would I have to get someone to weld a longer thread on the bolt so it can at least be secured if the silicone did let go?

Also who could I go to for professional installation and how much should it cost if it is not recommended i try doing it myself?, I have called a couple workshops and body shops and annoyingly every single one has told me sorry we don't do that... which made me think its gluing a piece of fiberglass to a car, how hard could it be to do it myself.

    Cheers

Which spoiler are you talking about? Have you already purchased? The TwinZ spoilers are fibreglass and are only held on with sikaflex. The series 1 spoilers are heavy rubber and may require more. If the bolts have been cut it should be easy to clear the holes for new bolts if you are going back to OEM. Just drill them out.

Yeah already purchased. It's a Tommy Kaira fibreglass wing. I will have to have a good look how the bolts are in, it looks like it shouldn't be too hard to remove them, I just don't want to damage anything.

Ok...TK wing very nice. Still one of the nicest wings on the market. You'll just have to check out how it fits on and if the bolt holes are different than the OEM spoiler (which is most likely). Unless you are particularly skilled in this area I'd recommend taking it to a panel shop and having them do it properly. Here a photo of my old Z complete with TK wing. This one was actually molded into the hatch for a smooth finish.

I have a bit of damage on the spoiler to get fixed anyway so I may as well get it installed at the same time. Just need to find a body shop that will do both, as some say they will paint it, but not install it.
