    Hey everyone,

    I'll keep it short...
I have ARP 2000 Head and Main studs...what's the limit for these?
I made 531whp @ 20psi. Than I changed to LS2 d585 coils, added water injection and a upped the boost to 25psi. I haven't been to the dyno yet...but I'm probably making well north of 600...
I was wondering what's the limit for these studs? should I go to l19? Has anyone actually lifted cylinder heads?
I plan on boosting 30-35 psi and changing to larger methanol nozzles.
Which part should I be concerned about most of all?
    Wiseco Pistons?
    Eagle Rods?
    Main Studs?
    Head Studs?

    :)

I also have an annoying ticking noise from the VTC...which is properly loud...when I touch it it becomes even louder...I installed stiffer springs with no luck. Any suggestions? Does it hurt anything?

    Thanks a lot...

I'm using 2000 series studs and north of 600. If doing it again I'd probably go to L19 head studs "just because" but stay with 2000 series main studs. I've been told that if you tq the L19 mains up to the required spec it actually pulls the bore out of round and you need to get it line-bored true.

L19 is not needed unless running serious boost / high compression (where the cylinder pressures get very high ) ,high Rpm .

Extra clamping force on the head cylinder and girdle so it doesn't walk .

Torque plate and line boring is expected and at this level of power is expected to do.

The pussy engines on this forum (including my own :p) that run up to 25psi don't need L19's

    Thanks guys...
I'll be boosting max 35psi probably (if I won't get greedy again...) and will stop at 750whp if I even reach it with GTX2863R's...I'm kinda afraid that the rods might try to escape the engine past that power level :D
I'm revving to 7500. So would the Head stay in place at say 800whp (just for safety) and 7500rpm with ARP2000?
And as for the VTC ticking...does it hurt anything? Can it cause damage?

Here's a recent drag racing event from where I live...my Z took first place :)

FYI....ARP does not make a 2000 series head stud for the VG30. The standard black studs are 8740 moly. The L19s are the only other variant and can handle 125ftlbs of tq. The standard 8740s are good to 95ftlbs.

yep you have the standard 8740s. Good stud kit. Just be sure to keep them clean and dry and oil every engagement area on the studs and nuts. Be sure to use the ARP lube on the washers as well. Very important. Good luck
