    Hi All,
I'm trying to rectify a steering rack leak before I can register and then sell my 300zx.

Here's a pic of the seal that has come away from the rack, but I'm not sure how it was meant to work, or where I can get one from.
I guess I'm worried that the seal has snapped off and part of it is still in the rack assembly? As I can't see how it would be held in place any other way. I've tried pushing it back on, but it just slides out when I turn one way and then fluid starts pouring out.

I have considered sourcing a replacement rack, but if its just this seal then I would prefer to pop the rack end off and slide a new one on.

That's not a seal, its an impact softener in case you slam the rack. It's meant to be floating like that. The rack seal in further inside.

hey Chad that is to keep dust and grime from entering the rack it is not meant to hold oil in it if that is what you are thinking, if the boot has oil in then the seals are leaking.
