Try fill the radiator with water and leave the cap off, take the fuel pump fuse out and turn over, see what happens with the water, if it blows out the radiator then you have definitely done a head gasket Had similar symptoms with Johns car after Jamie's tech day a couple of months ago. worth a try
I didn't ask if you removed the camshaft position sensor, I asked if you disconnected the wiring harness going to it, as mentioned in the Nissan FSM. The linked article mentioned the cylinder oil test, did you try that? In any case, those compression figures, while they're not ideal, don't indicate a blown head gasket. The compression test has eliminated any serious engine damage, time to move on to other areas. The plug colour indicates it is rich, however that's understandable considering it has started & only run for a very short period of time. Are all the plugs generally the same colour?
yeah the plugs are all the same, I didnt remove the CAS haha im not a retard. I couldnt get the CAS connector clip off (didnt want to damage it, as I recently soldered in a new one from CZP) so I used the other method where you remove the fuel pump fuse thing and take fuel cap off etc. Ill replace the spark plugs, bolt everything back up and do a BLT and get back to you guys.
Thought id give an update, there was no boost leaks but now when I try to start the car the fuel pump doesnt prime (i plugged and replugged in the fuse-able link for the fuel pump). When I put it into ON position with the key, I hear a clicking noise from the rear left. is that the FPCU that has gone now? and by clicking, i mean it clicks 3 times (the kind of duration you expect the pump to prime). also i replaced all the plugs
Well guys, for a lot of dicking around the car runs like a dream now. FPCU is playing up, going to replace the fuel pump while i'm at it. also discovered coil pack 6 is a bit fidly (the contact thing is loose on the inside). IM BACK WOO thanks everyone for your insight and help
Great result! Not as expen$ive as originally thought & you've learned a few things about your car along the way.
