Something of a christmas cruise if you like, based on a South Sydney meet and drive to Robertson Inn for dinner via Appin Rd and Port Kembla.

    Proposed route here http://goo.gl/maps/MbQdk
More info on Robertson Inn here http://robertsoninn.com.au/
Link to event in aus300 facebook group https://www.facebook.com/events/159684667575340/

    Itinerary as follows:

5:00pm meet at KFC Casula (Cnr Beach Rd and Parkers Farm Pl, Casula, NSW -point A)
    5:30pm departure
6:30 arrive Flagstaff Hill Park to meet members from Wollongong area and get some photos (point B)
    7:00 depart
8:00 arrive Robertson Inn (point C)

The return leg to Sydney via the Hume Hwy and M7 (point C) is roughly 1.5 hours.

Can't meet us halfway there if you want to call yourself NSW event coordinator ;) At least come up to Cambeltown and do the run through Appin and Macquarie pass -that's supposed to be the best part

I'm also the ACT event and southern NSW event co-ordinator so I can't abandon them if there's a contingent wanting to participate and meet for lunch so I may do a alternate coastal cruise to meet perhaps at the bottom of Macquarie pass and we can all drive the last 20 together .

    Two groups merging ?

I'll see what pans out ;p

Hi, fair question and I'll try to give a thorough answer.

I've picked this route based on my own selfish desire to check out Macquarie Pass (the SAU guys do it a fair bit). I've been at a certain member to organise a Southern Highlands cruise for a while but got sick of waiting and came up with one myself. The cruise isn't exactly in my backyard either, I'm certainly not as far as Newcastle but I'm still an hour North of the meeting point. We've had people come from Goulburn and Nowra (and Newcastle) to do the Putty Rd and Bells line cruise, you'd certainly be welcome on this one.

Why at night? Given the time of year I'd rather not be in the car for a couple of hours in the middle of the day (late December so it's likely to be raining or 30+ or both); both the car and i prefer the quiet streets and cool air of a night time drive, and it's been a while since we did the night time drive up Pacific Hwy.

If anyone from Newcastle wants to put their hand up to organise something up that way (perhaps another run through the Hunter, Coast Road or New England Hwy?) or contribute some ideas I'd certainly be happy make it happen. It would have to be in the new year though as I won't be making any changes to this one now it is up and running.

Anyway please don't feel that the locale or timing are designed to preclude anyone, but if you don't want to come I can understand why and perhaps we can work on an alternative suggestion for early 2014? Remember anyone and everyone is welcome to organise events, or even put ideas forward if you're not comfortable taking it on by yourself, but if nobody else is coming forward you'll just have to keep putting up with MY idea of fun :p

Take a shortcut to Robbo thru Tourist drive. Its a mossy bendy beautiful strip that gets missed too often.

Where is the Tourist drive? I can't spot it on a map

Its off Kangaloon Road, just after Sproules Lane, and before Sheepwash Road.

OK I see it now, looks a great road but I don't think it'll fit in with the route. Keep in mind we're heading into Robertson via Macquarie Pass, it would mean turning North and doing a big loop West around Robertson before turning in to head East back to town...

Although could be done it does add another half hour to the first leg...
