I need to replace two turbos. I already have the replacements, they are a set of second hand http://jmturbo.com/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=300zx&product_id=396 Basically I need to know what gaskets to replace, and you guys suggest i do all the bypasses at the same time right? How many people have done turbo replacements with the motor in? any luck?
Dont even think about doing it with engine in situ, Take the engine out to change turbos its lots quicker and you can do a better job.
Swapping turbos with engine in is crazy talk. I used permaseal mlsr turbo gasket kits when I did mine, but that was for sr20det turbos with 5 bolt dumps your better of ordering the relevant quality gaskets from CZP. 4 bolt dump gasket 2 bolt Comp inlet 3 bolt comp outlet Oil drain. gasket 4 copper washers for water pipe banjo's X2 That's just to swap turbos once the motor was out I found a few other things to do.
I was trying to avoid that http://www.conceptzperformance.com/..._Type=NIS300&UID=2013102616564760.242.223.213 Is this what I should buy? I couldn't find a listing on any in Australia do you know who would make them here?
You don't need all of that kit. Cheaper to just buy a length of water hose and do the bypass while engine is out. I just reused the oil feed hard pipes after cleaning them out with degreaser, high pressure water and compressed air.
Yes those hoses are not required when bypassing the plenum and throttle bodies. Order a plenum gasket as well if you plan on doing this.
Yeah, I got stuck last time. I didn't do the bypass on my NA. ended up spending money on those metal heater pipes on the back. It isn't possible to change the turbos with a car hoist?
You would be wasting your time, but maybe teach yourself a few new swear words. A lot of good mechanics have tried, not worth trying. if you have a hoist available you can remove engine and gearbox ix 4 - 6 hours, then fix ALL the issues and be assured of a good job
