Can somebody please tell me what is indicated when this warning light is illuminated.

that you are in power mode.

in a auto (such as yours) it will illuminate when the car is first turned on, and will turn off after a few seconds of idling.

while driving, the car will switch to power mode if you accelerate heavily, or if you floor it.

there is a switch on the gearshift sorround which allows you to select power or hold modes, and if you select "power" the car will always be in power mode.

there may be circumstances where the power mode light remains illuminated if there are gearbox issues? like a engine light. of this however, i am uncertain. refer to service manual lol.

    hope that helps a little....cheers!

You have your automatic car in the power mode or you have just started the car. the switch is just in front of the Auto gear selection lever if you want to switch it off

Thanks guys. The light came on when accelerating while the auto was in third and it went out when it changed into fourth. I just wondered because I wasn't accelerating all that hard and the auto seemed to hang in third and was slow to change up. I've never seen the light before but will keep an eye on it.

that is the main effect of the power button - there may be others but I am unaware of them, all it is doing here is changing the shift point so if you are passing or similar you can hold a gear longer and generate a little more power. I find mine is not activated by how far I push the accelerator rather it comes on if I push it down fast/hard so I can kick it into power mode by pushing hard but still stopping at 1/3 throttle if I push gently I can get all the way to full throttle without engaging power mode. as mentioned you can permanently turn it on with the power/hold button

    Thanks Stu

I didn't realise the auto would swap into power mode without being manually switched. I've been winding up the boost controller so I guess that has had some effect.
