Unfortunately my 300zx has drawn its last straw for me, I dont know what to do so im wondering what I should do, long story short it was my first car and I love it to bits, every problem I have tried to fix but its gotten to the stage where it just blew another water pump, its fuel consumption has gone through the roof, it has bad lifter tick, and I can just tell its not going to last much longer, its a 1989 300zx z32 j-spec, im only 20 and am apprentice mechanic I can't afford to keep it any more so my question is should I sell it for a spare parts car or a project car or should I keep it and try to fix it in the future, it has a pretty bad paint job at the moment and its rear inner bumper is torn up from getting rear ended

how much did you buy it for?

it's usually worth more in parts but unless you got the thing super cheap you're more likely to lose money on it regardless of how you get rid of it.

Yeah from what you've described of it it's definitely a parts car. Providing you didn't sell a kidney to purchase it. You'll either be in front a bit or not much behind. Plenty other fish in the sea.

Is it an na or tt jspec?

Its a na j-spec, the car its self only costed me $4600 to buy and it was bought through inheritance so its costed me nothing but repairs, I would like to sell it in parts but I don't have the time for that, how much to they usaly go for parts? Its got full leather interior as well?

    Condition

will determine the price you'd get for the complete car, or for individual parts.
As it's a 1989 model, being 24 years old & not in the best condition, based on your description, it's unlikely you will get anything near the $4600.00 you paid. :(
People are always on the lookout for parts, but they aren't going to buy parts that are in similar condition, or worse, than the parts they already have.
If you don't have the time to part it out, it doesn't leave many options does it?

It's worth 1 k as a parts car max. Less depending on body damage. You'd probably get 2k in the currents market trying to part it out. The question is how much sentimental value does it have.

Doesn't say much for the future of these cars when mechanics who own them, give up on them. But yes, unless you've got time & money to spare, numerous separate problems together with needing a respray - sounds like time to ditch.
