Okay, so a friend is offering me a Microtech lt8 ecu and full loom to suit an rb25det engine for super cheap so I'm thinking about snapping it up. Question is, is it possible to make an rb25det loom to work on a vg30det? Would it be as simple as just switching around the injector/coil pack plugs to the correct firing order and go a re tune? The rb25 CAS is the same as a 1996+ z32 (well looks like it anyway) and bolts into the stock vg location, the rb coil pack s boltstraight into my engine (vg30det from a cima), the tps is direct bolt onto my tb and the injector plugs will be changed to suit mine. Water temp senders and stuff like that will all be swapped across. My current loom is a z32 tt manual. Is there anything I'm missing? Cheers.
Much backwards step from stock ECU M8. Very agricultural ECU useful for a race car but little else. Spend ur hard earned on Nistune modifying your stocker and going from there E
Yeah thanks, for $200 I thought it may be worth it, but have been looking into it a bit more and apparently they have no support and stuff any more either. I'd love to go Nistune, but my tuner doesn't do it and I don't trust any other workshops lol. Anyone have experience with adaptronic?
Some would argue not much good for that either lol. Put it on eBay. Not worth the never ending hassles.
I've got a nice one still sitting in it's box looking pretty. Talk to Evan about it (tassuperkart), he knows them well and quite likes them.
Where are you located mate? Adaptronic make a good plug in ECU but its going to double in cost compared to Nistune
Well, FWIW, the LT's are still supported. Its MT ECUs that are not supported anymore and are functionally worthless. Yes, Adaptronic do a 440 plugin module. Straight plug and play with support for all current sensors and auxiliaries. MAP sensed as well. No different to anything else to fine tune. E
Thanks for the replies. Not actually looking at the plug and play Adaptronic though, I've got no auxiliary sensors and stuff working apart from the main things to make it start and run; so no idle control, egr, fuel temp sender, A/C, idle up solenoid etc. This is actually the main reason I want to go a full after-market ecu, cause I have a feeling that I'm losing efficiency and power through not running this stuff. The base model Adaptronic is $900 delivered with a universal loom which my tuner is happy to wire in, and tune will cost around $400. I'm in Brisbane, tuner is a friend hence why I don't really want to go to anyone else. I think Adaptronic may be a go-er, nothing too fancy, and will do everything I ask for a reasonable price.

There's people who do it, and people who do it well EFI are the only people I've heard of worth taking a Nistune'd car to.
Have not seen good things from the couple of locals that have had cars tuned, both here and on SAU. Seems to tune very rich, not so good for power.
I'd say his style of tuning is "oldschool japanese" as back then they tuned cars to run very rich (into the 10's on high power cars) with a lot of timing pumped into them. All those 0-300KPH GTR's and what not would blow 10AFR worth of smoke and would haul ass. Its two different styles of tuning, both work, which one is "better" is upto you. I know for a fact a few of those cars when tuned to low 11 AFR would blow engines more often too. Yes i agree though, very rich but at the end of the day if the person paying is happy then thats all that matters. A lot of people think its good until another person says its not and paranoia sinks in haha. Btw: Microtech sucks
Can nistune do MAP sensors?? The turbo I've ordered is a t67 25g and it has a 4 inch intake so MAP sensor capability is something I would prefer over necking down the pipe. Lol sanouske he has an rb25. I'm really just throwing around random idea's now, as I'm already pretty convinced with adaptronic, but has anyone ever used Megasquirt?? I read they originally couldn't use the stock CAS, but now its supported with the MS3 module.. They're so damn cheap is why I am drawn to it, only a bit more than nistune, but I get built in MAP sensor.
ok you really should stay away from nistune unless you want to "learn" efi tuning. I would go with something like adaptronic if you need a ecu to get you going/satisfies a need. megasquirt is awesome but its something you will need to work on and spend time learning. just my 2 cents. I cant wait to learn megasquirt but right now I wanna go fast so nistune I will be sticking with.
