    Deans if you look close is wrapped in leather with a baseball type stitching. You can see where it finishes looking down towards the base.

    This here is a S1 shifter=plain and ugly...

    My leather isn't scuffed, its got wear patches that go through the fix later of the leather I guess, you can save it.

    Plus I'm not as bad as you may think when it comes to Non-OEM stuff. It just needs to be very very well executed. That's why that initial shifter I thought was for an Auto was perfect because its not bling and looked OEM.

    Just recover yours with new leather and stitching, oem goodness and you can personalize it with stitching and leather choice if you wanted to I guess.

    Remove the leather by cutting the stitches on the driver side (only you can see that side) and get it copied/repaired/restored by an upholsterer. If the guy makes a decent pattern and builds a zipper into the front, you might even sell a few. ;)
    Yours could be a free sample :D

    Where you get ugly from I do not know, did I hurt your feelings above ?

    Now put it next to your tatty leather covered one ? and you see the arseness I speak of.

    Even when the leather one is in good knick it doesnt really match the interior (even though the wheel is stitched) and seems out of place, the dimensions are slightly larger and out of balance IMO. Its like a cod piece on an Armani suit.

    Did I miss something above? Lol

    Nah I tend to disagree, the S1 is sooo plain, and it's straight out of an Nissan maxima... The leather late model version atleast has something about it, it matches my steering wheel and hand brake. I think it blends in well IMO

    I think you missed it all. lol

    Being one eyed and biased shields you from reality.

    Post a picture of your lovely leather shift for us, and one in good condition, if you can find one. ;)

    Thanks mate :) But yeah too much bling ;) I'm going to just stick with the stockie and get it re-wrapped, same with the steering wheel and handbrake.

    Ive been following this discussion and I think I can shed some light on the standard and leather shifters people have seen in Zeds before.

    Ok so from my research on the OEM shifters here is what I discovered.

    The standard OEM style automatic shifter looked like this and was avaliable from 1989-2000 as standard

    [IMG]

    Now from 93+ Nissan offered a Leather wrapped Shifter option to customers, which looked like this;

    [IMG]

    here is a comparison of the 2 together;

    As you can see they arn't eactly the same the Over Drive printed text is popping out of the leather wrapped where the standard a sticker is in place.

    More information on my project website http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2645958/1989-nissan-300zx/page-308/

    This was also the same case for the handbrake options which was standard and leather wrapped.
