Hi I have converted from manual to auto. I am curious if the ecu requires inputs for any of the following:

    1. speed input
    2. neutral input

does the ecu componsate idle for been in/out of gear?

everything seems fine just wondering if I am missing something.

You said you have converted from
    Manual >>>>>> Auto

I think that there would be a few Auto ECUs gathering dust in zed garages.
Surely someone is willing to give you one. :)
They have no use for it now, if they have converted the other way.

a auto ecu can be used in a manual car, but not visa versa.

some people when doing the sway just keep the auto ecu as it runs fine anyway, particutly if you then go and get nistune or custom ecu tune.

Its a fully manualised auto and its a ford.

Im more referring to the ecu needing these as references to run the engine/idle compensation.

You will need a speed input if you are still using the stock power steering setup and want to retain speed sensitive power steering.

Don't bother inserting Z32 workshop manual pages for this thread, you may as well put your commodore diagrams in. ;)

Even though you arent asking about powersteering, Ryzan commented about power steering, so adding to that, l read a comment about removing a pin in the Nissan power steering unit to enable power steering at all speeds. So it might be worth checking if your Ford power steering unit has a similar setup because you might have to do that if you want power steering.

It's a ford gearbox in a 300zx vg30dett with manual Eco and a full manual valve body

I believe that should only be used as a diagnosis since it makes the power steering light all the time. Light power steering on the highway or at high speeds is generally considered to be unsafe.

It would be a C4 , there's a huge amount of aftermarket support for them and they weigh around half as much as the nissan trans.
