Lack of charge and an irregular *tick*

So I have been run off my feet with work lately and its been about 4 months since Fiona Fairlady has been driven.
The battery was dead flat so I used an old charger I had to charge it up over 2 days.
    Still nothing.
Took the battery into battery world and they tested it, sold me a new charger and said it will need to be charged for a week.....
Charged for a week, tried again.

Switched the car to accessories, everything light up, turned lights on and everything dimmed and drained like I have a flat battery...
Next thing I hear this irregular tick coming from somewhere in the car, around the back seat...
It clicks on when I connect the battery, and clicks off when I disconnect it.
The charger indicated my battery is fully charged.
However, I can jump start my car from another.

Do I just put a new battery in? or is this weird ticking noise the problem here?

I don't want to put a new batter in if this ticking noise is an issue and it damages the car.
But I'm wondering if the tick is from the lack of power coming from the battery.

ANYWAY, I cant get it to a electrician or anything so I was just curious to see if anyone know what this is?
I didn't find anything in searches.

Probably got a dead cell in your battery or something. All the electronics in the car will do funky stuff when it's not getting proper power, the noise you're hearing is probably a relay tripping. Replace battery with a new one and then worry about it if you still have problems.

I guess i can just dc the battery if it keeps being stupid.

I would be very suspect of the salesperson that tested the battery, sold you a charger & advised you to charge the battery for a week.
Charging a battery for a week is ridiculous!
You should be able to charge a discharged battery overnight, even with a cheap & nasty charger.
Recommend you recharge the battery & check the voltage using a multimeter.
Check the minimum voltage at the battery when you crank the engine.

I said the same and he said he has had some on charge for a week to bring them back, I was like **** righto then...

I just hooked the battery from my GF's car up, more power but wouldn't start.
Hooked my battery up and her battery up form her car too, while running.
More power but still no start...

I'm hesitant to buy a new battery now seeing as though that didn't help at all.
The battery in my car is only just a year old. It should be fine.

About a month ago I started the car successfully with a jump start form GFs car.
    WTF is going on :S
    Do i need a super battery :p

What is the capacity of your battery?
Are the battery posts & terminals clean & secure?
    Do you have a multimeter?
If you don't, you should consider getting one.
If you check the battery voltage as mentioned in the previous post, you will know if the battery is defective.
Your information is somewhat vague in detail saying it "won't start".
Does it crank over at all?
Does it turn over at a normal speed?
    Does it turn over slowly?
Are there any click type noises?

I'm getting hold of a multi, i dont have one atm.

with just my battery, the starter ticks slow.
with a jump it ticks faster/normal speed but it wont crack over.
Its kinda like it just doesn't have enough grunt to...
also, the lights all dim when I try.
or interior lights dim if i turn headlights on...
this is all with 2 batteries hooked up.

Also check your alternator , if that has lost the ability too keep a charge going it may pay too change it with someone who has a good spare too lend.

Take the charger back and get a refund. Telling you to charge the battery for a week should have been a warning they are dicks. Any decent charger will charge a good battery up fully overnight. Put the money towards a new battery from someone honest. I would try and lend a battery to try it out. Sometimes even when you jump a battery that's really knackered you will still have trouble starting so it's better to remove the suspect battery and put a known good one in to test. If you keep on cranking on a bad battery you can damage the starter motor and other components.
    Cheers Dave

I disconnected my battery and used the one from jodies car and no luck.

Yea I thought that was a bit bullshit with the battery, but the charger indicated when full and even after that time it never quite got there ay...

Traced my negative cable and did a continuity test and it was shotty as ****.
Ran an old earth wire from work (thick copper cable) as a new lead and started fine :D

    Good news......

    A multimeter can be useful!
What was wrong with the original battery earth cable?
The battery earth cable is connected to both the body & the engine.

It was bird caged and just bend 1 too many times, the integrity of the cable was shot.
I'd say about 15% of the cable still usable lol, the rest was just corroded, bird caged and snapped.
