not to mention the killer ripsnorting engine. 25%power increase I thought was the limit....... but yeah that was the point I was getting at, the fact that I am positive not a single corner was cut and I doubt anyone could fault the work is irrelevant, "We gotta get these hoons off the roads [/end sarcastic voice over]"

    My zed;
    1990
    Silver
    2 seater
    Targa top
    Manual
    5.5 years ownership

I some times think about this. and think about other path's and what not.

I have done everything on the zed myself, it's never seen a mechanic, well besides the clutch, because I couldn't be arsed dropping my gearbox in my back yard.

But I love driving my zed, It's been reliable, even though I have changed alot of parts, and I like most things about it, even the roughness, the one thing which shits me is my cracked bomex wing sitting around doing nothing, need to fix it, and do a better repair job on where the rust in the hatch was, but besides that, when ever I think about things I always come back to the fact that I'm happy with my car and it does everything I want it to.

Worst moment: Changing my water pump on the side of the road 30km's from my house in the dark, going to supercheap just before it shut on the thursday to get some bits and bobs I needed, getting to my car at 9pm after a day at work, then remembering i forgot to buy 3 leg puller, as I had the bolt style balancer puller, and my pulley has no bolt threads, epic fail. Then getting eaten alive by mosquito's.

I've definitely owned my zed for a much shorter period compared to everyone of you. Its actually been an inspiration going through this forum and looking at the devotion and work put into each zed on the forum.

I frankly dont want to sell the zed, i just rego'd it and someone is offering to take a look now, but i'm kinda blowing him off cause i want to keep the zed. I was forced to put it up for sale, never was a decision of mine. Though i wouldnt mind cashing in and getting a similar zed with lower kms.

Honestly though, im happy with what i have, i regret my decision with those VS-XX though, overpriced and a bit to big for the car, not enough offset. Now its looking stock as can be with a few minor 21st century updates. If anything, i have my default canvas to work with, i just need the money i lost with the rims and repairs now....

Nothing like a late model aus spec with all the nice goodies inside :D

    I would....

Keep the 2+2 as it is currently in Semi Stock CLASSY LOOKING state with stock wheels and body for when going out on special occasions and as such. A sleeper.

But, on the flip side, I would have a 2 seater Fully sick:vomit: for those moments that I just need to go absolutely nuts and stick it to whoever. Coil-overs, 19s, FATS and boosted. An absolute weapon.

With the price of the Z's nowadays it doesn't sound too unrealistic.

I do regret buying a car which I didn't notice had a big rust spot on one of the removable roof bits (at least being removable was easy to fix - bought another one). I do regret buying a Z which I didn't notice had a few small dings (hail damage perhaps) on the body work and bad paint work (probably back yard respray). I do regret buying a Z and not noticing the badly damaged exterior and interior trim bits that I would end up spending thousands to replace.

I don't regret buying a red Z with a 3 inch exhaust and 18" wheels (man I love the wheel design). I don't regret buying a Z with absurdly hard (even for a Z) coil over suspension. I don't regret buying a Z with an overly loud exhaust with ridiculously loud drone at 2K rpm which renders the car stereo unusable and makes conversation difficult (well maybe a little bit but it makes up for it with the sound under WOT).

I do regret paying a mechanic 4K for a major, all bells and whistles (plus timing belt) service when I first bought the car in Jan this year who then failed to detect or rectify the fact that the car was permanently stuck in safety boost (due to a miss-wired detonation sensor bypass attempt - wired to ground instead of resistor) despite supposedly doing a "systems check" and who failed to fix the loud clunky sound on a hard lock turn due to a loose suspension component (tie rod whatever) despite supposedly "checking and tightening sub frame and suspension".

I don't regret buying an upgraded radiator, Z1 SMICs or dual pod intake with additional MAF and Selin converter. I don't regret getting a manual boost controller installed. I don't regret getting Nistune installed and tuned to 260rwkw. I don't regret spending nearly 3K on replacing my slipping clutch with a twin plate carbon-carbon RPS clutch. I don't regret replacing the Chinese tyres (on the car when I bought it) with Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres.

I don't regret buying brand new parts when 2nd hand would probably done just as well and been a lot cheaper.

Bottom line is that while I should have taken more care in choosing the car I bought (or at least should have paid 5K for it not 10.9K) and probably should have looked at more than just one Z in person before buying I don't regret a single mod I have made to the car. I could not be happier with the car, I am over the moon about it.

I don't regret that I spent a bit over 30 k on the car this year (buying it plus restoring plus modifying). I do regret that when looking for a Z I limited myself to looking at 10k Zs and I didn't look at 30k Zs when I was searching for a Z given that I was going to end up spending that much any way.

I don't regret using my card at around 20% interest to finance all this and that I'll be spending nearly all my disposable income over the next 2 to 3 years just paying that debt off (no more Z upgrades for a while).

I don't regret just turning down a job offer to work in Europe on an interesting and rewarding job that would have been great for my career instead to stay with my current tyrannical, psychopathic boss from hell boss, because I don't want to give up driving my Z for 3 years.

Would I do it all again, even buying the same originally bomby car? Absolutely I would given the car I now have. I couldn't be happier.

Actually, this one's pretty easy. I would still have bought the 2 seater MiNE'S car back in 2001, even though we had kids afterwards, and driving the 2 seater was then a bit limited. I would have fitted front camber adjusters sooner, would not have assumed that the P Plater in the Holden Rodeo would have stopped at a stop sign, would not have assumed that the trusted crash repair workshop would have taken 6 months to fix the car, probably would not have bought the second and third Zeds, and definitely would have still bought the fourth zed.

I definitely would still have met as many fellow forum members as I could - I have met so many people who have become great friends :thumbup:

Oh. And I wouldn't have assumed on lap six at the northern hairpin at Mallala that the brakes would work just like they would in lap 5
