Driving home the other day and went to take off from lights and shutter from take off. It was that bad I didn't think I would make it home. You can here a like miss as it is idling and shutters every time you take off. So replaced plugs checked coils and ptu. Checked the tps and on 45 checked timing and at 15 - I had to raise the timing to 20 so I can drive it. I am running out of ideas - so any help would be great
my car did that the other day for a minute or two after i had to pull an intake pipe off... dont know if it was connected, its alright now.
sounds like spark/ignition. check connectors for corrision.. common faults are ptu afm coilpacks injectors tps could also be a dead s1 ptu. maybe even look into upgrading to a s2.
Yeh as aazn says - he covers nearly all of it however the manual does specifically points to spark plugs / timing / vacuum leaks or fuel pressure problems for shuddering problems on take off. to speed things up pinch test the blow by hose (pcv) for air leak pinch test the fuel hose / perform fuel pressure test (helps if you have a gauge) run the diagnostics tests on the ecu I am actually wondering if timing belt has jumped a notch given you had to advance to 20 - did you accelerate hard on takeoff?? Has the timing belt been serviced recently or is it old (in other words - its rare to jump a tooth but you would have a better idea of whether its possible or not than me, since I dont know the history of this engine whereas you would) - anyway check everything else first as per aazn's checklist given this is a more extensive thing to check (its something to keep in mind in the back of your head as a possibility)
I have s2 ptu and did try my old ptu and no luck. Had spare set of coil packs and still no luck. TPS is fine. Injector plugs are crappy gave a good clean but still shitty - but they have been like that for years. The timing belt is due for its change was last done at 120 000 now at 205 000 so could be possible. but it did do this same problem 3 months ago and the next day it was fine. - but now it won't go away . Driving me crazing (I do not now have to check fault codes ) How can you tell if the belt has jumped a tooth?

I would change the fuel filter, if its still doing it i would have a look at replacing the fuel pump! However, since you had to adjust the timing that would point towards timing belt.... Just pull the LH timing cover off and have a look at the condition of the timing belt.
I have noticed if I start the car cold it will be fine for the first 5 mins. took for drive - got about 1km and started doing it again. It needs to warm up to start doing it. Does this still point to the injector leads?
you will find a guide to do the codes in the Tech section. Have you checked the MAF & air filter? also check the ecu temp sender unit (on the top water pipe the one with the two prongs), check and clean the connectors. the best thing to do before spending loads of money is make sure everything else is right. have you tried pulling leads of the coil packs when it happens to if its particular to one cylinder?
I have tried everything - pulled coil packs and all worked fine. Just ran code check and comes up with code 55 no problems (lol mmm no problems) I have cleaned the MAF - filter is like new. Wriggled around all injector connectors to see if it would change the miss sound but nothing. timing correct ptu correct. All I can probably do not is just replace the injector connections
Running out of Ideas - Installed new connectors today and still no fix. Car is fine when cold - within 5 mins of running it starts idling rough. Like a plug is missing. Does anyone know who works on these cars around the Capalaba - Cleveland way
Hi, is it running rich? it sounds like a classic "ECU temp sender unit problem". anyway you could get hold of one to try or a replacement (I don't think they're too expensive)
It goes on Pulled air box out and put pod filter on. Seems to have stop the rough Idle - But now it has hesitation and stumble when put foot down. It had this problem when I first got a pod - so when back to box filter. But pod seems to have stop the rough Idle - Could this be a poor MAS ?
did you say that you've done a vac/boost leak test? and yes can you get hold of a working MAF to put on the car as a test?
