I'm moving from the Mid North Coast (Port Macquarie) to Melbourne, anyone has experience with moving their zed (getting it transported) ? Just want to grab some prices cause my girlfriend refuses to drive it (too powerful she says) and I'm riding my motorbike down. If prices aren't too bad vs fuel I'll just get that done instead save all the hassle (and I can load it up with some more gear also)

There are a few car carriers, but none a really cheap. When i was moving from Sydney back home to Brisbane, i was average quoted $800 + for a heap of shit Camira, and that was drop off at their depot and pick from there depot. And that was 3 years ago.

Probably best too let her drive the car down, tell it isn't that powerful, just take it steady and she'll be fine.

Moved mine from a Brisbane home address (tow truck), to a Melbourne depot.

Cost me $800 with the zed full of stuff. Only one company would transport with stuff in the car, if the car is empty then you can get it down for $650 odd I'd say.

nation wide towing towed my z no problems, they may be a bit pricey, try carcarrying.com.au, they seem to have decent prices

    I have an idea!

I reckon you could ride your bike down first and get a cheap one way plane ticket and fly back up to port and then drive the car down and it would still be cheaper than a car courier. Bit more of a PITA but it would be a fun ride and drive I suppose.

I think sometimes one way tickets can be as low as $25

Yeah not to Port Macquarie, its a 4 hour drive to Sydney (North) another 10 to Melbourne so it kind of gets past enjoyable i think, and 1 way flights to Sydney cheap are possible but Port Macquarie even just from Sydney normally is around $180, cheap flights around $130 with only carry on luggage :(

Give CEVA logistics a call, see what they'll quote.

EDIT: A lot of courier services won't allow you to have person belongings in the car.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to transport the bike and drive the Zed?

or get a removable tow bar fitted and trailer the bike down with the zed.
that is what i did for my move next year down to Melb.
plus you can always get rid of the tow bar later or tow a nice jet ski :D

Not really as far as I've noticed, that's why I asked for a quote, last quote I got for the bike to be transported was $500, and the bike uses an assload less fuel than the zed.

I'd move North if it was my own choice but its for work, my last mate in town upped and left down to Melb, he got me a job with his firm so was either that or stay here unemployed and with no one but some of the family so I took the first choice.

    AndyMac Better than you

Even with fuel and those flight costs there it's more than 50% less than getting it transported. If your worried about the cost, then start convincing your missus, or suck it up and do the double drive.

I used this company from Sydney to Perth, reliable.

But check your Ks before moving, heard of one mover that while in transit, (no name given) the 100k race car was reved up high several times while cold:eek: & a few laps around a depot, the guy had it all recorded on a internal computer hooked up to the motor, he was spewing:mad:
