Side feed injectors have two O rings. Because they pass through the fuel rail the need to seal at the top and bottom of the rail. Heat, pressure and time can eventually cause the O ring's to fail with disastrous consequences if not fixed.
If the injectors are not put in right and/ or they have damaged O-Rings in the top or bottom - they will sit to one side visibly, indicating they need to be removed and pressed back in properly until they sit flush all the way around the injector body. (if the o - ring is not too damaged that is) Whilst it is easy, to make a mistake and to not seat them properly (even with lubricant) , it is easy to detect by the eye that they are not seated properly as well. Whilst they can be visbly seen to be off centre with the naked eye, a micrometer actually makes a good confirmation test they are spot on and seated properly by measuring all the way around and confirming they are even Cheers
While a injector with a pinched o-ring *may* sit to the side, its not always guaranteed. A micrometer is most definitely not a good way of ensuring they are correctly seated. Best off installing properly, the pressure testing with air or similar. I've never had troubles with installing injectors other than Mike's stupid Sards.
is it a good idea to run injection cleaner with premium unleaded now and again???what brand do u recommened?
I don't like that crap. Get your injectors properly cleaned and change your fuel filter at proper intervals and all will be good.
what lube would you recommend? i replaced my injectors on the weekend and the top O-Ring on one of the injectors didn't seal properly, i didn't use lube when installing, maybe i should have???
just have my car in a garage at the moment havent payed yet or be quoted feel free to call me 0416348654 Emmanuel
If its good enough to put on your privates its good enough for orings And yes waterbased lube is better for rubbers than oil based
There is nothing wrong with applying a small amount of engine oil to the o-rings for lube either. You realise what's in petrol don't you?
