Hey all. So my car came back from rwc guys this arvo, few things need replacing and signing off on to get the cert and go ahead to put it in my name and all that. Heater core and radiator need replacing, whilst I'm doing this is there anything I should do along with these replacements, i.e. extra jobs? whilst I'm at it and in there also have to get the chassis rail on passenger side signed off cos its got a dent in it :O Any suggestions for those jobs and anything else I can do along with it will be much appreciated
Make sure that's whilst the hoses are off, only! Put new hoses and clamps on. Well not so much clamps but the ones one the heater core are dodgy cheap ones...flush your engine out too (coolant) get rid off any gunk that someone else may of chucked in... And you mose well put new belts in whilst the radiator is out I could continue......
thats what I was thinking, new everything (hoses, any broken brackets etc.) Is there any single best place to order parts? Z1motorsport have alright prices... I think :/ but the postage ends up making it so expensive. So far I'm looking at ordering: the heater core and hoses, radiator and hoses, as well as upper and lower mounting brackets, mounting bushings, steering rack dust boots and a couple other misc pieces.
Yep go with coz (concept z)... big hint and tip here whist your digging around, and if you have the time... Rip your plenum off? You will be able to do even more while the car is off the road, this way once it is, you'll have a solid zed There are aims bastard coolant hoses at the back of the plenum I highly recommend replacing! They are smaller diameter hoses that run of the heat hard lines
I have an NA mate, cheers anyway What bobert said, heater core was bypassed by previous owner. Something i never checked when I looked at the car. Also, what's the difference between crossflow and downflow radiator?
Definitely recommend doing a plenum pull along with all the deletes like EGR, AIV, etc...while the plenum is off get your injectors sonic cleaned aswell which can be done locally or you can send them to Arvin (pennyarvs)...also do a major service as preventative maintainence. You can use a TT radiator on your NA...I'm personally doing that along with plenty of others. You just need to drill new holes for the bottom mounts as they are different between NA & TT. You can get a brand new TT radiator from ebay for $150 delivered. Heater core i would personally spend the extra & get oem or even go nismo if you can find it lol...as its a pain in the ass job lol...but as Cam & Baz has mentioned there are plenty of other brands. Conceptzperformance.com is the most popular & highly recommended site for getting parts & they are very cheap & postage is good too...most times they are way cheaper than the local Nissan parts dealership. P.S - i havnt forgotten about sending you the pics of the shroud...i just havnt been home yet lol ill send them hopefully sometime tommorow. Abraham
did not know that >.< that would make things better in the long run then Cheers Abraham all of this is great advice, I'm taking it all in and learning as I go, slowly but surely Plenum pull looks like it will happen, replacing lines aftermarket heater core few deletes TT radiator all back in and running before I get my P's sounds like a decent attack plan
Come E...dont be such a smartarse lol I know how it all is & hence why i have the motto...do it once, do it right...save up the extra & pay for prevantative maintenance...ive probably paid easily almost 5k on maintenance as i choose to have peace of mind...sure i didnt need some of it, but end of the day i know i did everything i could. I know your still young & would rather spend money on the upcoming weekend & chicks/gf/both but if you got a happy zed, then you have a happy wallet Abraham
-_- Apart from the obvious, I meant is one preffered over the other? in terms of functionality and all that such stuff. I completely see your point, better to spend some now rather than more later I may not be able to spend as much as I'd like to, but whatever I'm able to do to bring the Z back to its glory, then it's money well spent:zlove:
Cross flow is more common these days but both work Here's some more info : http://www.carsdirect.com/car-repair/advantages--disadvantages-of-a-cross-flow-radiator
