Tell him to piss off. Its a scam.............

I bet he said he was on an oil rig and was buying it for his son.

usuallly they say there is PAYPAL comission and there is some issue and can you pay $200 up front to get the PAYPAL through. They usually dont want the car.

CASH ONLY, or verfied bank cheque

No i can't i have used paypal too sell and buy, but like you said ONCE the money has cleared, then he can have the car. It normally takes about 5-7 for a large transaction too go through.

let me guess, does this guy also claim to work off shore on a ship or oil rig like tekky said?

next thing he'll probably tell you is he will have an agent pickup the car since he cannot but likes your price so he'll pay the asking price no worries.

guaranteed to be a scam, don't waste any time with this.

wouldnt trust pay pal. Very buyer protected. Where do you stand as a seller should he dispute the transaction within the allowed 30 day period?

Quite easy for him to transfer pay pal funds to his nominated bank account and do a bank transfer.

    Cash is king

the other thing they can do is also source a bank account with nothing in it. so the money appears in your account until the bank or paypal notice the account is actually empty and reverses it.

If recieving large amounts I would not use Paypal its to easy to get reversed and you have almost no comeback. If you are to use it make sure you cover yourself 200% on collection of the vehicle, you need to be able to prove absolutely that the purchaser took the vehicle - personally I would not do it. I however for much the same reasons have no issues using paypal to purchase items.

yes I have had the oil drill scam and the guy from England who was going to get somebody to pick up the fto tail light.
His English is too good and he is from Sydney.
I would say the only thing I can think off is that he might put in a complaint later with the condition of the car or something like that,. cash is always better
    thanks for the quick reply

I would never buy a car any other way than pay cash on reciept - cannot even imagine making a bank payment for a car - at what point is it transferred in such case, before payment or after???

Let us know whether he ends up agreeing to pay cash in the end.
If not spread the details on this scammer
