    Hi Everyone.
Its been a while since I have been on.
The DriftZ has been off the road for over 12 months, everything is just about done, but it spun a bearing, so have to rebuild the engine again. There have been lots of other dramas to keep me busy as well. I hope everyone else is having better luck!

The Magnaflow rear mufflers usually have short tips, which don't protrude much, which can cause black soot on the bar. They are usually centre inlet which makes it harder to do the pipe work, and they are usually 2.25" inlet, which means everyone has to step down from 3" or 2.5" to use them.

I have some similar mufflers that I got made especially for cars like the 300zx with the dual system. The mufflers are symetrical, so they can be flipped for left & right hand applications. The inlet is closer to the diff which makes the pipe work a lot easier, and they are 3" inlet.

On the inlet, I was getting 3.5" mufflers made at the same time and they have expanded them so they will also fit 3.5" piping. This bit usually gets chopped off anyway, but if someone has a 3.5" system (single or dual) then this muffler could be used.

It is completely straight through, stainless wool around the perf and fibreglass packed. They are a quality muffler.

These are similar to Magnaflow in looks, performance and contents, but are not polished to the same standards as the Magnaflow tips. They are priced at $180 each and I have 10 of them - 5 car sets.

The twin tips are 3.5" OD and 8" (200mm) long

Also, I have some "V" band connectors and clamps that are used instead of flange plates. They are a 3 piece kit and stainless. They slip over 3" pipe and get welded on. These are neater and less bulky than a flange plate. They are $65 per kit.

They look nice. So it is $360 plus shipping plus the mounting rings?
Are they street illegal and too loud?

    Hi David,
They are a performance muffler for a performance car.
The legal limit is 90db which is dead quiet. So chances are, if you hear any car that sounds good, that was made after Jan 1983, it would be illegal.

Turbo's quieten cars, but they also make the exhaust sound ordinary. It is possible to have a legal sports system, it would be quiet though.

I have a VE Commodore V8 - no turbo's, and it has a throttle cutout in Park, so the noise test can only be done at that rpm which is around 4100 - 4200rpm. We fitted a dual 3" system to it, and it sounds good and is legal. When the exhaust is stabbed it reaches 94db before the cut out, but that isn't how they do a noise test.

    Cheers

Very nice thanks for that. I think they look especially good coming out of that bar. Very tidy.
