Hey guys, I bought this car from a person who bought it from a forum member, I got it knowing it had an engine issue. I bought it to do it up so I didn't mind, It was blowing a bit of smoke when I got it so i did a compression test and found the left bank was down to around 60 PSI so i decided to do a full re-build.

Since then I've done the heater core  and removed the A/C compressor 3 times trying to find a leak

    So the plans are
    pistons
    rods
new turbos (not sure what size yet)
    all the delete's
    worked heads

then later on il focus on the bits i can get to with the engine in like fuel rails etc.

So ive taken the engine out and found the issue number 6 piston was in bits, 4 was cracked in the same part and 2 was cracked but not as bad.

    Machineing

Ok, sending my heads to a machine shop and they have asked me if I want to get there brass guides put in.

Has anyone used the bushes from czp or custom made ones and had issues?

Can anyone recommend a place to get the heads done in Perth and also a block hone

that picture of the piston is exactly what my No. 6 piston looked like when i had to do my first rebuild. the brass valve guides are probably a good idea in my opinion.

Standard valve guides - will last longer, no real benefit of brass guides.

    guides

I think I will go standard guides... the heads are more pricey than I though... will be $1000 per head without parts!

I?m thinking of running 1mm oversize valves with duel valve springs only because im changing them anyway and I may get upgraded cams later.

Would normal cams get a flogging from putting the more valve spring pressure on them? in theory they would but has anyone here done it and had issues?

Have you had a price on heads with oversize valves from www.conceptzperformance.com

Do you have S1 or S2 heads. If you are going to spend that sort of money on heads maybe you should go S2.

I thought S2 wasn't that beneficial? and i would have to change plenem etc...

i dont mind spending the mulah but its gotta be worth it.

    Business time

Ok here is the list from concept, let me know if I?m doing it wrong (bad match ups or missing bits)

APR head and main stud kit
    EGR delete kit
88mm over size re-build kit (gaskets etc. + head gaskets)
CZP 550bb turbo kit + manifold + dumps + test pipes
740cc injectors (using stock S1 rails)
    Re-man P/S pump
    N/A P/S Reservoir tank
    HICAS eliminator bar
    1 piece aluminium drive shaft

heads will be re-built but no mods done. I was going to get JWT Mild cams... still tossing up on that.

    What manifolds exactly ?

And that doesn't look to bad but keep in mind if your not porting your heads or having any work done than you don't really need anything other than stock cams

MSP Manifolds, they come in the kit.

Im thinking if I dont get the power I like, I will re-visit the Head's. at least by then i will have the money to not hold back. eg porting, cams, oversize valves.

What power do you want though?

Realisticly I would like to get 400rwhp for a stable tune, but i would like to see it do 500 on a dyno.

I think your gonna stretch for 500 but that should comfortably pull 400 and have a good spool up

Will this run with no tune... I will get nistune but I dont know if I have to get it straight up.

If it will run... Will it drive 300kms (to the dyno tune) with out stuffing my fresh engine?
