hey guys I have been having this problem for months now and it is starting to send me a bit insane :( . My problem is that I have to crank my car for about a minute before if finally starts up. I have searched the net and changed parts that have been mentioned in other threads but nothing seems to make it start first time.

This is what I have done: s2 PTU, New platinum spark plugs, new coil pack connectors, O2 sensors, new cas plug, new temp sensors. The car has spark and fuel pressure. It seems to flood as I crank it but after a while if finally fires up.

Has anyone had this issue and if so how did you fix it? any and all advice is welcomed.

    cheers max

Page EF&EC-76 of service manual Has a "Diagnostic Procedure 4 - Hard to Start or Impossible to Start when the Engine is Cold" procedure.

    Have you tried this ?

I get up to number 7 on the procedure then I don't know what Im doing. The car used to start when I had my foot on the accelerator but now it dosent, i need to vary the pedal between open and closed while cranking to get it started.

Could you explain how to check ACV-AIR REGULATOR AND IACV-AAC VALVE. I cant seem to find a tech article.

    thanks for the help

Number 3 on page 76 gives a page refrence if you answer yes to "When pressing accelerator pedal fully, can you start the engine?", page EF&EC-153-156.

Did it start OK with full pedal ?

I have to crank for about a minute to get it fired up and once its started I need to keep the revs over 1500 or it will stall and I have to crank for another minute to get it started again. But once it has run for a little bit it will start up just fine. i will have a look at page EF&EC-153-156 now.

I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, it only starts smelling like fuel after it has been cranking for a while.
