Hi guys, question regarding parts availability. I'm looking into buying a Z and was wandering if parts for jap import Z's are (readily) available, or a pain to get to. And would those be signficantly more expensive than for non import? Thanks for your help!
Doesn't matter whether you buy a Aus Delivered or an Import, the parts are all the same (excluding added features like locking targa tops). Most members buy parts from the CZP in the US, much cheaper than parts from Aus (unless you go second hand), and postage from Japan can be ridiculous. At the end of the day if you for example need new door handles, they are all the same, you can take them of an Aus spec or an Import, or order them from the US (some parts are LHD only though, so be weary).
The only thing to watch out for, if buying off the net is that USA car parts may not fit because of the differences in LHD vs RDH vehicles. Also the USA cars use different headlight bulbs. Google is your friend
With the number of aftermarket suppliers I don't think the stigma surrounding "grey imports" is really warranted any more. Parts are easy to get through Nissan or online www.conceptzperformance.com
Also a quick look over ebay will reveal a fair few wreckers selling zed stuff by the bucketload, not to mention people selling their old OEM gear that gets replaced by after market bits and pieces.
