Maybe if someone has bee doing some dodgy wiring. I would suggest looking at your electrical connections. I know I had a point where my CAS sensor was a not seated correctly and if I turned one way hard or put my foot down the engine would cut out. I realise this is not your problem but dodgy terminals can cause all sorts of hassel and I am referring to more than when they need a clean. broken cases and improperly seated as well as bad earths all come into this scenario.
I am having a very very similar problem to you and i know how annoying it is For my car I think I have narrowed it down to being bad connections on the CAS and the coil packs. Im not 100% sure tho but the coilpack connections are causing me to drop the middle cylinders every now and again but seems to happen when its cold more as for the cas, with my car just by touching the plug the connection cuts out a bit. I hope this helps a little bit to fixing your car good luck
Well NONE of the connectors under the bonnet and i mean NONE have the clips on them they have all been broken off as the previous owner had a similar problem so took the coils cas ptu and so on Off and managed to loose all the clips in the process also a fair few of the plugs have cracked weather boots and are badly corroded , I would like to replace them all but not sure where to go for the plugs as jaycar said they do not stock them anymore
Could be Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) is giving a crook reading. Ie reading hot ALL the time. Won't throw a code if it's got a sending fault, only if the circuit is fubbared. The ECU will richen the mixture for a cold start up to 5% and scaling down to 0% at operating temp. IF the ecu thinks it's trying to start a hot motor it won't richen the mixture and it can be extremely difficult to start of a starter motor, but will start fine once some heats into the block. Comprende?
Thats what i have been thinking for a few days but when running the temp guage works fine and i have tested the resistance, the plug is a little corroded but not to the point of needing replacing dose it get the readings off the collant temp sensor or another temp sensor if so where could i source 1 cheap to test ?
CTS doesn't send to your temp guage, only to your ECU. Visually you won't be able to tell, perhaps with a micrometer you could get a resistance range, but I have no idea what it is, plus CTS sensors only run you $30 or so, unless you run ECUTalk, Datascan, Conzult, etc you won't get a readout on what temp the sender is sending back to the ECU Turn the key to start (ie everything on, ready to crank the motor) and then unplug the sensor with 2 terminals on your front water pipe. Your thermo fan should then kick in. Then try to start it. No sensor value to the ecu just means run rich just in case.

ok thank for the advice i will try that next time it wont start when you say the fan will kick in ? All i have it a clutch fan ???? Are they ment to have thermos
ahh yes i see it now its seized as hell cant even move it with my hands Does it need replacing ? or is it not necessary as i have no A/C
