Not sure that I'm ready to put money on you making it yet but damn you're giving it a good crack, you should go close even if you don't make it.

You buying or making your plastic hatch?

Gonna mould it off the existing one. It will be purely a cover, with tube frame. Will look ok from the outside but no structural support at all. Should weigh about 5KG with plastic window. Remove in one pce for access and drop back on and fix with speed latches.

Aint gonna be much Z32 left in it.

It also lets me rip out the roof support framing seeing it doesnt have to hinge off it now. The car has a full roll cage so the roof does little or nothing but look nice anyway. .

Will prob cut the front wheel arch out a bit as well. Not needed really. Towers are welded to the cage so wont need much if any more support added. Will put some thin plastic or 0.6mm alloy sheet over the openings.

Best part is with the whole front removed. I can pull the entire engine and box out the front and not have to lift it out over all that crap and the radiator support panel.

Difference Robin is, YOU are driving your car and the stock suspension in your R34 is 100 times better than the upgraded suspension in my old road car that got sold. Both those things adds up to you leaving me for dead around that track. :(

I may have been quicker in a straight line but come the corners you just up and dissapeared. :br:

One day I will lap faster than you ( I hope :p)

For anyone who hasnt driven at Phillip island before. Try to get behind Robin and keep up. Its an education I can tell you that much.

Tube frame is a good idea, I've been thinking about ways to make a fibreglass hatch structurally sound for a while and figured it would need something like that. If you want an extra set of hands doing it let me know. I don't really need to do it to my car but I think I want to for the excercize of actually making it. Happy to split costs with you on anything that can be used twice or bought in bulk to save some dollars too.

Actually the opposite, I said my car would not be ready but Wykked said I had no excuses and had to get it done so there you go.

I might talk to you about ECUs and wiring some time too, you're link idea seems good as does the Adaptronic.

In theory I just need and ECU, loom, brake bias adjuster and a seat and harness to get it going but I'd like to do a bit more while it's in a million bits.

I'll see what I can do, as much as anything it may depend on money.

Thanks Alex, you guys are right, no doubt I can get it done in time if I get myself in to gear. I'm simplifying everything a lot too so it's really not the end of the world if I put everything together for this then pull it all apart again later for extra work. Not like I'm putting together and stripping a car in full street trim.

I'll let you know when I'm doing anything fun, you can come over and play.

A road trip is a good reason for itself, what more do you need?

Tekky that is extreme and you still won't make it. See www.nemo-racing.com full carbon fibre EVO to get to this weight and they start off lighter as a standard car.
