    Hi all,

exhaust is knocking on the heat shield, exhaust support and possibly floor occasionally. yes all hangers are present. is there any material i can use to padd the areas to cushion the noise? obviously have to not absorb water and not care about heat...

    thoughts?

Wouldn't it be better to get an exhaust place to adjust run of the exhaust slightly so that it doesn't hit anything? I would think they could do that fairly easily and cheaply.
The problem with any padding is that it will eventually either wear out the padding or the exhaust if it keeps rubbing and knocking surely.

I would agree, but the prices I've been quoted just to cut in a new muffler have made me cry....

Run the car until the exhaust is nice and hot, get it up in the air in a safe and stable way, then using rags or really thick gloves, hang off the exhaust to bend it away from the area that it's hitting.

It shouldn't take much to move it enough, just make sure the car is stable enough for you to pull the exhaust around a bit.

Is it an aftermarket exhaust? If so i couldnt imagine they've made i wrong or out of alignment, but would consider the engine mounts and trans mount thats probably sagged. At which will altering the exhaust mounts positioning. hope that makes sense.
