VIC Goldfields cruise Sunday Feb 5th 2012

Basic route details:

MELBOURNE
8:45am - muster at Todd Road service station.

9:00am - depart for Ballarat via freeway.

BALLARAT
10:15- arrive at BAKERY HILL McDonalds for morning tea.
(Geelong crew joins up here)

MOUNT FRANKLIN
Photo shoot & social time out.

CASTLEMAINE
Castlemaine Rod Shop Museum.

MALDON
Lunch stop & take a stroll.

Mt TARRENGOWER
Photo shoot point from the fire spotting tower.

BENDIGO
Refuel and a snack.

Return home.

Bendigo and Melbourne people split at Harcourt, Melbourne people head back either on Fwy or Hwy.

My vote is YES

Mate, if the red Zed we look at tomorrow is not THE ONE then so be it. Come to the cruise anyway, on a scooter if you must.
Great way to check out Z32's and get a better idea of what to look for / avoid if you're shopping for one.
You'll meet some first class folk, all of whom have been there done that and are happy to share their knowledge with you

 

Rod Shop Museum NO GO.

Slight bummer guys, Rod Hadfield is out of town on the 5th so we can't get access to his museum.

But since we're passing through Castlemaine anyway we might as well do a lap of the CBD and rattle some windows.
Those would be Heritage Listed windows by the way

Meanwhile I'm scouting other options to entertain yous. Favourite choice so far is a brisk drive over Mount Alexander
It's due East of Maldon so going there won't add much time to the trip home for those of you heading south afterwards.


I drove part of the cruise route on Friday from Castlemaine to Maldon, across to Harcourt North,
then up and over Mount Alexander :br:

Roads are all good, no pot holes or rough patches.

Also checked out the petrol stations along the route for 98 & 95 RON, so that's covered too.

Majorly looking forward to this cruise
