Hi ive seen lots of ppl ask wich is the best or easyiest way to remove a engine from your z32 , well ive lifted out through the top 2 times and yeah the 1st was a nightmare , but this time dropped it from out the bottom as i am replacing tire rod ends and rebushing so i dropped the cross member and it was relativly easy , i do have a 2poster hoist , then i wonderd how i was gonna take the weight of motor as i dropped the bolts out , so i bought a atv lifter ( 4 wheeler lifter) for $149 from super cheap and put trolley jack under the gearbox xmember peice of piss ,

everytime i ever needed to drop engines it has always been drop from the bottom.

have it on a hoist and used whatever i could to drop it down, usually a pallet jack with a few slats on it.

saves a lot of time and a lot of heartache :D

when nissan built the 300zx, they raised the engine with sub frame and suspension up to the car, rather than dropping it in from the top. so in effect all your doing is the reverse of how they got the engine in in the first place.

Difference is they would have had the entire front suspension, engine, cross member and well a GBox all assembled ready to be bolted in.

I have done it both ways and prefer to lift it out of the top. I found there are way too many ancillary bits to be broken by dropping it out the bottom.
