    Hay guys.
I think my starter is gone. It had been playing up from time 2 time but now my car won't turn over unless I push start it. Has any1 had a similar problem or know what price a new starter would be? Also the location of the starter would be tops.
    Thx guys

The starter motor is under the car directly beneath the area of the steering column (driver's side obviously. Your issue could be one of hundred things. I'll PM you my contact number and I'll try help you out. Had an issue recently with my ignition, I can probably be of help in small ways I can...

Na it's more of a screeching sound

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

That means that the starter is not fully engaging and the pinion just grinds againt the teeth of the flywheel ringear.

Id be having the starter off and thoroughly cleaning the pinion throwout mechanism and try lubricating it.
Also another thing that may help is installing a starter solenoid relay.

has the car had the clutch recently replaced? or the gearbox removed? could be as simple as the starter has come loose

starter motor is located on the drivers side of the bell housing on the gear box, and has the Live from the battery connected to the rear of it.

Id check to see if the bolts haven't worked them selves loose first, which would most likely be the case so its not holding onto the gearbox

If thats not the cause and its still failing to start, you can replace it with one from a breaker (wrecker in Aus) Auto and manual have the same start motor so any will do.

Ok so turns out the starter was just lose on the gear box. The bottom bolt is threaded so will need tapping and the top was lose so tightened and it started. Thx 4 all the comments n suggestions I'm sure I'll have plenty more 2 come

Don't tap it - put a helicoil in.

Pretty normal for that bottom bolt (top is a nut only) to (mis)thread.
