My Just Car, insurance bill came in the mail and it turns out I'm only insured for $8,100 Why do I even bother? the agreed value is crap. This being the case I might as well just get third party insurance.

Rating 1 and the bill is $811 :bash:

Yep, 3rd party for me. full comp seems like a bit of a joke.

I got a quote for my zed a few weeks ago from Just Car. Premium of about $900 and agreed value of $16k with all mods lists (friggen heaps :p).

Didn't end up getting it, just 3rd party fire and theft.

realistically, if you put that money away, earned some interest on it, you'd be sitting on a new zed every 5 years.... and at the rate depreciation is going, in 10 years time, you'd be picking up one per year :rofl:

    Thats pretty gay,

Im 20 and I use to pay $2000/annum for an agreed value of $15 000, eventually decided it wasnt really worth it so I downgraded to 3rd party/fire/theft - $500/annum agreed value of $10 000.

IMO cars over 5k your an idiot not to have full comp...

you say "if you put that money away you can have a new zed in 5 years..."

    correct....

but are you putting that money away?

Depends on usage and all that. I have my Evo on full comp, $900 per year with agreed value of $27k.

But I drive the zed once a week and can't justify the expense, especially as if it is involved in a 'incident' it is most likely due to me doing something stoopid that the insurance company wouldn't pay out for anyway :p

I was under the impression that 3rd party didn't use agreed values, since your car isn't actually covered in the case of an accident. Or is that in the case of theft?

edit: also shannons, just over $1k with $15k agreed value & all mods listed

Yep, mine is only covered for $10k, or market value whichever is lowest, in the event of theft if you have the correct type of immobiliser.

so that $8k is the agreed value or market value? To get the $15k I had to supply a load of photos to show condition, etc & I'm 28. Oh & the kicker? thats on an NA with 280k kms...

I've had the car for 3 years - never had an accident - saved myself $4500 in insurance costs for a $7000 market value car

I put $100 away a week which gives me piece of mind incase something happens along with a nice chunk of spending money if nothing does happen :)

Shannons also wouldnt insure me when I rang them 12 months ago. The other companies also either wouldnt insure me for full comp or they were stupidly high to make up for it.... Just car was the only decent price for a 3rd party
