So my immobiliser just shit itself in the middle of civic :-/ went to dinner, came back to the car and the immobiliser/unlock button does nothing. The light on the keyring thing flashes so I don't think the remote battery is dead. Anyone know how these things work? It's got me in a bit of a pickle
Hey mate. Not sure how much help this will be. Mine is fairly dodgy and I need to press it multiple times hard and keep it pressed in for couple of seconds and be very close to the car and make sure the tip is pointed straight at the car. Also saw this thing on top gear. If u hold the tip against ur temple ( your head) it multiplies the signal so maybe give it a go. Good luck
I saw something similar on another TV show, where they put the remote between a pair of large breasts and made the woman bend over facing the car with her dress hiked up and her undies pulled down. Couldn't hear the outcome above the sniggering of the camera crew but. Hope this helps. But I doubt it
Do you have a numerical code for the immoboliser? Most will provide one the corresponds with key turns, so if your code is 4-3-2-5, you get in the car and before it self-alarms (presuming it's got something like a 30-second auto immobolise function), you turn the key on and off four times, wait until it flashes again, turn it 3 times, etc. Get under the hood and turn siren to silent before you do this so you don't lose count over the constant beeping as you go through the cycle.
Well it's staying where it is for tonight (permit zone) and I'm working all day tomorrow royally boned
did you get a key for the alarm ???? most can just be turned off in the engine bay on the siren there should be a switch (need the key tho)
Yes, the alarm can be turned 'off' ( it actually doesn't turn it off, just makes it silent) however this does not turn of the immobiliser.
pm sent. disconnecting the battery will have no impact on disabling the alarm. Depending on status of back-up battery, usually within the siren enclosure, the alarm will either re-arm when you connect the battery or alarm when you disconnect it.
IF it has a battery backup and IF the backup battery is good ,,, they regularly are not, sometimes cycling the state can help.
The immobiliser has a fuse in the wiring loom which will be under the dash on drivers side. I have had that go on me once at a mates house and i spent about 2 hours trying to find what it was.
Yeh, I've tried disconnecting the battery terminals etc. No luck. I've put new batteries in the remote. But i don't get off work till 6, so can't try it till then. If all else fails my gf has nrma roadside assist for any vehicle she is in. So might hafta get them to tow it home.
3-point internal immobilisation. So no external relays. Not getting into too much detail in open forum. Another PM coming your way
Well... After all that it seems it was just the remote battery! Or a temporary glitch that's fixed itself for now... Got a mate to take the keys with fresh battery down to the car and give it a go, worked straight away. And no parking tickets! Massive thank you to all you guys for helping out :zlove: awesome stuff
