hi guys my horn has not worked since I got the car so thought i would have a look at it today .

I can hear the horn relay clicking every time i push the on the horn is that a sign that it needs to be replaced or could there be another issue ?

If it is the relay where do you get them from ? can i get a new one or do i have to source a second hand one ?

Anything new from nissan will cost you an arm and a leg.
Throw up an add in the wanted section.
I might need one too, my horn sounds like a strangled goose.

You can buy generic complete horn kits from Bursons etc for not that much!
    Might be an option?

If the relay is clicking, it is working. Problem is either the horn itself (most likely) or the wiring from relay to horn.

    Mitch Has one gear: GO

If your horn relay is clicking, we can assume that the horn pad buttin on the steering wheel is OK.

Swap the clicking relay out for another one in the engine bay that might not be needed. Put the ignition to ACC, and see if that solves the problem

Has swapping the relay with another solved the problem?

IF YES> Relay was the problem- buy an aftermarket replacement from an auto store

IF NO> Look elsewhere - Wiring is an issue.

FIRST: Check 10amp horn fuse that sits inline between battery positive and horn relay. Replace if blown and re-test. This is in the relay box, and is the one closest to the centreline of the vehicle, and closest to the passenger.

If No good, go thru the following steps:

1)Remove nose panel / under tray, and gain access to horn unit
2)Test for continuity between ground and Horn terminal. Continuity should exist.
3)Test for continuity between horn relay and other horn terminal (green wire)- Continuity should exist.
4)Check for 12V at the horn relay (High current side) - Green/black stripe wire - 12v shold be present

From here its a matter of working out where the problem is, and fixing it from there.
NB you can test the operation of the horn itself by removing it, and hooking 12V to it dorectly from the battery- should make a horn "BEEEEEEP" noise

Basically got it all covered right there, although i think if the fuse was blown the relay wouldn't open/close at all. if you have some test leads just jump the horn unit of the battery, if it works, your ears will bleed :p otherwise it is the unit. My first guess would be that the terminals to the horn itself are corroded, and should be either cleaned or replaced, the horn switch seems to be working on the steering wheel from what you've said, so its unlikely its a wiring issue exactly, either faulty horn unit or terminals imo

    Good luck

ok it should be an easy fix guessing its the wires as I have 4 working horns and have tested them and they all work, and there is no corrosion at all on the wires so a guess wires must not be connected somewhere after the relay thanks heaps guys for your help will test those wires to see if they are getting power
