Lately (happened 2 or 3 times over about 2 weeks) my car would be sitting at the lights, revving fine......then the engine would just start to cut out, the revvs would drop to like 200 or so (something incredibly low) and then it would just pick itself back up in time before it dies .................However this morning while i was at lights, the engine did actually cut out and die at the lights. i let her wait for about 5-10 seconds and started her again and there were no problems, but im getting a little freaked out. Does anyone know why this could be happening and what i can do to fix it???? Thanks
Could be many things and you'll have to spend time working through a systematic diagnosis. Start with removing all of your electrical connectors.....(AFM, PTU, coil packs, injectors, IAA, TPS, CTS, CAS etc). Make sure they are all clean and free from corrosion. Remove and clean IAA. Use a multimeter to do electrical system diagnois (EF & EC of factory service manual....if you don't have it buy the forum CD http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=920865#post920865 it has a copy). Have a good read through this article:http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.335 If still no luck maybe start looking for vacuum leaks or fuel system.....change filter, fuel regulator blah, blah.....you'll need to search tech section and read for relevant information.
im only a junior member and new to the zed, however i had the same problem where the car would simply cut out at a set of lights, restart it and she runs tru, i freaked out also lol all i did was check the terminal connections to the battery, took em off, got rid of corrosion, cleaned them etc, then put em back on nice and secure, problem hasnt happened since twas simple fix for me, hopefully will be the same for u man all the best
thanks heaps for the help guys. Im gonna get it to a zed mechanic asap to check it out but ill definatley try the battery terminals for a quick fix. Thanks heaps again aye
