No matter how hard I try to get a similar fuel consumption recorded online as I am experiencing @ moment, I just can't I drive sensibly & mostly with CC on! Why bthe crap economy? It's one thing for older Zed articles on the net to claim 7.5L/100kms H'Way driving (I have to chuckle, sorry......) & anywhere from 11 - 14l/100kms as around town figures. Hmmm, mine drinks fuel like Homer & Barnie after work Bullshit aside, what economy are fellow Zedders getting. In real terms? My economy is "disgusting" New air cleaners so, does it look like injectors? Maybe one blocked even? If so, how are the spark plugs a nice 'dry' white/light brown & the AFR's on the lean? The mechanic seemed to think, due to the car running so lean, the ECU will pull though moe fuel to compensate! Well if that's so, why the white smoke & not black? I mean, why doesn't car blow black smoke (fuel) out the exhaust then to warrant this poor fuel economy? ? Guys I need to get to the bottom of this as, car now sits. I cannot afford this usage @ moment Can anyone give me some guesstimates pls?
Try and get Someone local to plug in Data scan or Conzult to see if your O2 sensor's are working, quite a common problem for bad fuel consumption, also try a boost leak test, might find a couple of leaks so it would go better afterwards. On the highway i see about 800kms to a tank and around town maybe 350-400, ( in a country town, not alot of stop starting)
What is a disgusting fuel economy? I averaged 13.5-14L/100km in the old na. Didnt think it got much better for that for mostly traffic driving.
Yes there are countless fuel economy threads you can look back at, and people have many varied experiences. I used to consistently get 10L per 100km mixed city and highway driving from my old Z. It was a 2+0 TT slick top. Front mount IC, pod and 14 psi of boost. Periods of spirited driving but never flogged it. Also had a chip that another forum member burnt for me. This was not on dyno or anything, it was a generic chip so probably could have done better. EDIT: I have a 2+2 now but not sure what it gets.
Make sure you have a read through this: http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.365
With all else equal (larger injectors set up properly and lets say 12psi of boost in both cases), would running larger injectors cause poorer fuel economy?
Haha Brock that is terrible! Poor car!! Get about 400km/tank with the TT if I'm lucky, but it's far from standard and if I put my foot down at all that drops to 300km/tank. my NA would get ~500km/tank most of the time.
No, must fess up, guess I missed that due to the smoking issue. Sorry, will have a look @ it soon as I can but will need to drive it again & stack the klms up before I can comment back Have done 250kms & fuel gauge needle is sitting around 1/3rd left That's disgusting considering I'm driving slow & on CC That's good? Fark! Well, I'm getting worse than that & as siad, I drive like an old mole as I wanted to see the economy of a tank, driven in that manner...... Sounds as bad as Brocks to me god there thirsty & even in NA form.....
No the fuel economy should be the same. i am just putting about 30% more fuel down the hole than i need to. Monday i am getting a tune so should be much better.
I get between 4-500km out of a tank in my na depending on how hard I drive it. Best fuel economy I ever got was 8.47L/100k all highway kms. 660kms to a tank and I could've made 700 if I was game
Can't be dead accurate til' I fill up again sure, but I just know the needle, though it goes up & down on hills & declines, it still indicates alot of fuel being used for normal driving
well the way I see it there's no way in hell I could get even 400/450 on h'way with CC doing the driving so, somethings not right.
I probably didn't as no o2 error code come up? Also, the AFR test dne the other day. Wouldn't that have picked up faulty sensors, since engine was @ running temp?
There is no O2 error code, you just need to watch them reacting on conzult or the like. Also, the fuel gauge is not linear at all so your bottom 'third' of a tank may well have almost half the fuel still left in it.
