does anyone know a garage/mechanic in sydney that wont rip me off.. i just need to probably install a speed sensor and have my brakes looked at. i just rang nissan and he wants $130 to have a quick look at it .
Con Rouggos @ Pedders Granville 9897 2122 Spiro Papadimatos @ Autotech Engineering Granville/Clyde 9897 1966 both have been doing my Z32 maintenance for 9+ years(just remember, "cheaper is RARELY better").
Don't try to teach your Grandma to suck eggs, Benny(didn't you notice that he considered $130 was too dear)?
Isn't that when you are supposed to show the Zed triangle? Just because he says he wants a cheap decent zed mechanic doesnt mean he is going to get one!
Call Andrew at ASR automotive - he used to work at UAS and knows his Z32's inside out - I'm sure he'd be able to help you out. Unit 9, 7 Carrington Rd CASTLE HILL NSW 2154 Hours of operation: Weekdays 8:00am-5:00pm and Sat 8:00am-3:00pm Phone Number 8677 3000
You really are spoiled for choice in Sydney. The Nissan dealer will be charging you for an hour to have a look... reasonable but dear at workshop rates. UAS not much cheaper at around $110/hour BUT they are far more likely to have a second hand sender/gear laying around. You will probably pay more per hour but likely to save big $$ on the cost of the part. Andrew/ASR is a top bloke and knows Z32 inside out. Where in Sydney are you located?
Double check with him, but late last year he was charging $88 an hour including GST - I can't recommend him enough
Both of these are good and have worked on my car. Both are good Z32 mechanics. Very reasonable prices. Presto is also mobile.
Many years ago We held a Dyno tech day there, don't think any of us have gone back due to the uncomplimetary reception the 300's received.
Can also Recommend both of these workshops. See my recommendation in the testimonials the Presto Automotive website. http://prestoautomotive.com.au/
Can also recommend Pacific Motors on the north side. Specialise in Euro's predominately, but they are the only ones who do the hard jobs on my car I can't be bothered to do, and they do them very well. Labour rates @ $110/hr, but like others have said 5 hrs at $110 is cheaper than 10hrs at $80, and that's why you pay the higher labour rates.
To far back To remember exactly, recall some of their hanger on's bagging the zeds and just being unpleasant. Also recall Mr Zee having words with them over a failed dyno run with a blocked filter and them wanting to charge him again for another run when it was fixed. Just wasn't a good day, first impressions,so never seen the need to go back again.
I recommend ASR. Andrew is a honest zed mechanic which are hard to find these days. not that far from Coogee either i live in Ramsgate i make the drive ED M2 35mins your there.
