HI Guys Just rebuilting the motor and was thinking why not add a second knock sensor as there is a spot on the block for it and wire it in with the first one. Question 1 Will this work better or just a waste of time and money? 2 Or wire up a knock light in the cabin? 3 Put two on together and wire up a knock light so I have best of both worlds and very little chance of both knock sensors dieing at the same time? Open to all ideas?? Cheers mark.
Id be pretty wary of adding items to the knock sensing circuit. They are reasonably streaky to begin with. Id go with the option of having the stock position sensor running the ECU as normal and then use another one as a standalone knock light if thats your thing. L8r E
Thanks for the info. Was just wondering if nissan cheaped out by only putting one on there? Don't even know if I need a knock light but as I am rebuilting the motor anything that may help with a bad tank of fuel or tune issue is a good thing I think ? Can you knock sensor be to sentive? Cheers mark
May as well fit while it's in pieces, you don't have to wire it to anything yet. The sensor won't cost much and you have the option of using it with external knock light as you mentioned, or running to ECU if you go aftermarket and have that option.
