ill be fitting some new injectors hopefully tomorrow. Doing a plenum pull for it, none of this dremel business. Ive removed injectors from my old engine once, and couldnt get them out of the rail. Was parting the engine so just sent off the whole rail as one. Just wondering how they are removed? Remove the half moon cover with two little screws. Then just pull? How gentle do i have to be? Should I just soak them in WD40 for a few minutes then use a pair of vice grips on the round plastic section of the injectors? (not the connector). Just a bit worried as this seems like one of those situations where Id use a bit of force and break something realising its an easy-out i just missed a screw
Remove the caps. Might need to use an impact screwdriver depending on how tuff they are. Then press them out carefully. Destroyed my first set of stock injectors trying to get them out without a press.
as in kind of wedge them out from the top? And where do i press m out from? The top, or the bottom? Cheers mike
From the bottom, use the business end of a big enough socket to support & protect the bottom of the injectors.
I poured boiling water over them & was able to press them out with my thumbs. Or you can use a socket that is a tad bigger than the nozzle (can't remember size) and tap them out with a hammer.
When Dwight changed mine over - he blocked off the one end, hooked the other to a compressor, removed the screws from the half moon cover and pumped air into it until it popped out (using a rag to catch it) Then put the injector back in and went to the next one. Another hint - the screws on the caps will be very tight - a pair of pliers on the outside undoes them without any trouble.
they can be tricky and easily damaged if not done right my mechanic put silicone spray on to ease em out been there for 20 years or so matt
Who are we kidding? 20 year old stock injectors are worth nothing anyway. Smash them out with a hammer No messing around
sweeet thanks for all the replies. ill go with the WD40 + try twist it with big pliers, then press out from bottom with a socket. if that fails then a hammer.
