Hey guys (and girls), If you know me you will know i had a ZX a year ago and sold it to fund a little bit more of my studies. I bought a commodore (puts flam suit on) as a replacement. I dont know why i did it. I am now wanting to get rid of it and get another car, i prefer Jap cars and manuals. Im sick of automatics. I now have a dilema. I can probably get around 4-4.5 for my commodore, and i want a zx, but i know that cheap zx's are money pits (or just more so then a more pricey one). The missus wont let me spend more then what i get for my Commowhore. The alternative is a Silvia S13. I like both cars but prefer the ZX. Which one would you choose if you were in my position?
yer i know, but i have an option, stay with the commodore, or try sell it and try get a Zed with that money, Thats the only way she is going to budge. She is right tho, i still have about 20k worth of training to do. Donations anyone? Or any one wanna have a joyflight? Aerobatics? Trip to Rotto?
Mate you are your own worst enemy. I thought she was the problem here but it seems you are. Forget the Z. Sell the commadore and get the cheapest car you can get. Put all your money towards the CPL, get it done. Then spend 3-6 years in crappy GA doing what you need to do. Then you can apply to an airlline and finally achieve minimum wage. Then you start your career and think about getting a real Z. Then reward yourself with a kickass Z when you can afford it. Ive seen peope do exactly as you suggest and it really puts them years behind. I take that back and I think your GF is the smartest person you know.
i hate when people makes sense. LOL I guess i just need my Zed fix. There is a Zed down the road and it makes me tingle when i see it lol.
hey rollin, yer i know, im like charlie sheen, he is addicted to 7 gram rocks, im addicted to ZX. Thats how we rolll.... The only problem Mr. Sheen can afford his daily fix
Yeah I'm with everyone else on this, don't do it!!! Buying a zed was bad enough while studying but then I had to go do an engine swap... and bought a Skyline too :bash:
"Should i get another ZX? " No. Where are you in WA? I'll take you for a ride for your fix. Get your licence, make some money and by then you'll probably want to buy a Porsche instead.
If requiring extra funds..... we can make a momentary stop-over in mexico. No need to bring luggage. Will just have 1 bag to exchange for another of slightly larger size. Aeronautical aerobatics might be involved. Worst case, hope you're not scared of small, dark, steel barred places. Might pay to have life insurance that covers bullet wounds. Stick with the commowhore for the time being. Sure there will be another Z for sale years down the track with sub 100K's on it (ample selling atm).
You eligible for any of the airline cadetships/scholarships??? (although I think QANTAS has canned theirs for the moment) What you're talking about is pretty much what turned me off becoming a pilot, I decided I'd only do it if someone else paid for all my training and that went out the window fairly quickly lol. Oh well... ATC FTW
Ive tried, i was going to get through RAAF but medical knocked me back due to eyesight. Qantas canned its programs, and other airlines are still way too hard to get through. Also, u will stillhave to pay for ur training in one way or another.
The Qantas program is expensive and doesnt guarantee employment. I know friends that have spend in excess of 100k in flight training through a Qantas cadet program and are not employed in Qantas. They have a more reasonable chance at industry placement at other companies and Qantas subsidiaries rather than the mainline itself at present. In general the industry has varying opinions surrounding industry placed cadets.
Yeah same here, luckily ATC was still an option with crap eyesight. I don't really consider a few years in contract as paying it back tho... as far as give/take goes its definitely very heavily geared on take
