The time by which I must decide upon a colour for my car to be painted draws ever closer.

I am looking for something along the lines of a red with perhaps some kind of pearl thrown into the mix... perhaps also with a bit of metallic?

If I were to be looking for samples of paints that would fit my certain criteria, whereabouts would I be looking?

Also, for a full respray, about how much would I be looking at for paint-cost? (Read: Just for the paint and associated materials, not looking to start a debate as to how much one should be paying for a quality paintjob. Urethane flex additives must also be factored in, as.. well.. I have some urethane to be painted.)

    Cheers,
    Tom

go something unique man. Mix your own or do a crazy colour. :zlove:

Would you consider 2 tone? maybe black/red? or a finish thats not gloss?

    :)

Not so keen on 2-tone, never seen it done to my liking on a Z...
I don't wanna go too far from red as the bay and sills will still be red :(

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

go a red body and the skirts/lip/valance in a different colour. i've always wanted to see that.

I personally wouldn't get a respray in any colour that doesn't come factory from somewhere... if you get a custom job, as soon as your door gets keyed and you need it repainted, you're boned unless you can get back to the shop you used.

I've seen it before. Thought it might look good, but it just looks half finished...

Hey man my Z is 2 shade metallic red with pearl in it....check out my pic in my garage as a reference...its a nice colour...I reckon a candy colour red maybe with flake would look so nice or like a black with red or green pearl..

Won't suit my parts through. Regardless of how it suits the stock front.

it is alot of hastle for no real gain , i guess if you write down what quantities and brand of paints you use it shouldn't be a problem but there is alot of very nice factory colours out these days .
Actually the worst part of trying to do a custom colour is choosing it , even when i try to choose a factory colour i end up spending ages staring at colour cards that look heaps different next to each other but almost the same on the car if you dont see them at the same time .

Why am I attracted to expensive things. First I was seduced my my Z and now she wants a new colour, So I was doing my own research and I found a colour that I like and did some ringing around and decided on  candy tangerine by house of kolor (not anymore) its $129/L but then I rang a few people to spray it for me and they said nothing short of 10G

Of course its easier to choose factory colors, but even they need to be color matched properly to get em perfect... really comes down to how good the painter is.
