    Hi all my car decided to throw a hissing fit and guts itself today and for its trouble it got a trailer ride home. Now the steam and coolant was coming from down near the passenger side turbo along side the battery, not that I got too close to have a really good look cause she was really angry and I am waiting for her to cool off a bit before I attempt an examination. so my question is what are all the bits down there that can expell green stuff. Thanks in advance Trevor

    They are water cooled turbos so part of the pipe might have a crack or the rubber may have perished

    The water hose to the turbo is NASTY to replace. Can be done with engine in place though !

    ^^ yes exactly as Mikey said. You can use a decent quality 8mm EFI hose from any auto part store in it's place also.

    Worst bit of advice possible!:eek::eek::eek:

    Anyone who buys a second hand coolant hose from a wrecker, deserves everything that happens.:eek:

    Do it right, do it once!

    A belated thanks given from me dude. I don't think we had the thanks system when you helped me with this.

    To the OP. Give AndyMac's advice a go it is doable but on the other hand it is not called the bastard hose for nothing.....

    Not the bastard hose

    If this is correct I replaced this hose when I did a plenum pull and bypass so what else welsh/core plug maybe or is there a outlet pipe for the turbos Thanks Trevor

    You may have got us confused with the coolant pipe into the top of the turbo, we're talking the pipe that comes out near the back of the block and gearbox.

    It's not really a hose you touch during a plenum pull. The only time that it's convenient to do this hose other than when it's leaking is when the gearbox is out.

    Behind the block is a mixture of hard pipes and hose that snakes its way from the turbo up to behind the plenum. You have literally 6 points of failure there, and the only real way to do them all is to run a single hose down the back of the engine and bypass them all.

    It's highly unlikely that it's a welsh plug leaking, I haven't seen one in my experience with these motors.

    not it

    I started pulling things off and got to the passenger turbo feed and I did replace it when I did a plenum pull a couple of years back and on undoing it it is still ok
    so what else do I look for, I guess I need to pressurise the cooling system
