Hey guys, just out of curiousity, i just removed the BOV's on my 89 TT fairlady Z, i believe that whomever installed these BOV's did not remove my recirc valves. i was taking a look at the air inlet pipe and came across what appears to be recirc valves, still connected.
    My question is,
Is there anyway of finding out if they have been blocked for any reason or if they are still operational without damaging the car???

I have a few pics of them and a diagram that was drawn by a friend to explain how they work, so i am thinking they are the stock recircs however am not 100% as this is my first car and my first turbo

I am not sure if my friend is correct in his diagram however i know u guys will help with some useful input.

your friend is right altho theres better diagrams around and those are stock recirculation valves, they look untouched to me.

I threw those out and chucked these in. Duel GFB hybrids. Great noise too!

we have a defect notice and we have to remove the bov's so i was just making sure that they were the recirc valves,

I am sure they are conncted as my friend cut his arm abit following pipes,

any info on how they operate and if they make any noise when pressure is relieved would be helpful.

we are planning to get her road worthy and meet up with a few people from the forum b4 we stretchher legs and take her for a run to wagga wagga

    BOVs

I dont get the big problem the long arm of the law has with BOVs they dont cause anyone harm to the atmosphere, its compress air big deal. I have some BOVs for my build but the can also be used as Recirc valves if you buy the extra plumbing as i did.

they dont like them because the intake system is a closed system once the air has been metered by the MAF. If you put BOV's in and they open. They let metered air out which the ECU has already exected will be burnt.

This causes the engine to be overfueled and it doesnt meet emission specs.
