MY thoughts on after market floor mats

I tried replacing the mats on my 2+0 with a set of mats from TTZED. I'll say that the mats were very well made and good value for what they cost.

They had an eyelet for the floor hook and an embroided 'Z' logo.

    The problem was 2 fold:

    1. The back of the mat was flat, without the spikes that come with the originals. As a result the mats didn't stay where they were supposed to.
    2. The logo was white. White things get dirty, especially when you put your grubby shoes on them.
I had a set of good condition originals that I cleaned and use today. Go rug pile!

I have nothing more to say about after market mats :)

    Cheers,
    Evan.

    O..K..

Its unfortunately all you can get these days, in respects to "new" mats. Be good if someone went into remaking the stock mats. I'd buy a set.

Im surprised your mats moved even when the hook was attached. Dimples do make life better, but still surprised.

    Good update.

    Cheers.

Sorry but i had a laugh at the fact you pointed out that the white logo got dirty.. Well what do you think was going to happen? Mats are used to protect the carpet from what you wear on your feet while driving. In other words stops you from putting holes in the carpet over time so you dont have to replace the whole carpet..

Not all mats even factory mats theses days have dimples only a few do and you do pay for the factory mats. Some factory mats are not so good and wear out quickly then what aftermarket mats do.

As for the mats moving well the drivers one will as it gets the most use of you getting in and out of the car you moving your legs around while driving plus its was not made to spec of what the factory mats are and yes they will slide around a bit. Having the eyelet has made it so it does not slide up under the peddles. What is a quick couple of seconds of your time to just adjust the mat before you get in?

Factory mats are pricey and to do an aftermarket copy to a point will cost you a pretty penny.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

Have you experienced the original OEM mats first hand for a long period?
I have owned 2 Zeds at the same time - my current one which has OEM mats, and the "Zedsled" which i owned for a year aswell (a few years ago, and have now sold) which had those aftermarket mats. So i've had a direct comparison over a long time between the two.
...i would never substitute from the OEM ones. Those "dimples" on the bottom seriously DO hold them in place perfectly, no matter how rough you get on them (in the drivers' seat), and apart from that, you can't beat the quality and feel of them. :zlove:

Umm, possibly. lol. (sorry, but yes, i really do love the OEM ones)

I got some floor mats from an Aussie manufacturer

I got a set of mats from allcarcarpet off eBay. Made in Australia and made when you order. Took a couple of weeks and only costed $99 + postage.

They fit perfectly and sit well. Haven't had them slip yet and I do lots of freeway, highway and city driving.

Having said this, I was looking for mats with a Zed logo. Shame these didn't come up 2 months ago:

    No way!!

But they look so hot next to genuine sheepskin seat and steering wheel covers!!

All floor mats and seat covers look old-fart spec to me. Only there to protect the good looking stuff :zlove:

i hate all floormats, just makes your interior look dirty. your covering up your dirty dirty carpet with mats instead of cleaning your car!

Maybe it's because i hate driving with shoes on, but i always take my thongs off (i take them off so often that i'd rather wear thongs than shoes) when i get in my Zed. Don't care about other people though, i personally think it's unreasonable and a little OCD to ask someone to remove their shoes when they get in, even if it is only my girlfriend.

Haha well i meant it in a different context :p

We aren't engaged, but we already share everything. The Zed is mine obviously but if she wants to take it for a spin, no questions asked i hand her the keys. She already IS my family and it would be no different asking her to remove her shoes, than it would me asking my mum or dad to do that.

But like i said, i wouldn't ever ask anyone to do it, regerdless of who it is. I think it's extremely snobby. If your Zed is honestly such a masterpiece that people need to take their shoes off to prevent the carpet from getting dirty... Then either a) it shouldn't be driven, or b) you shouldn't have any passengers.

I much prefer stock mats over aftermarkets. But thats cause im a traditionalist....most of the time. I just give them a goooooood carpet clean every so often. Come up looking great and smelling fresh again.

I also take my shoes off to drive. Otherwise my hoof doesnt clear the pedals.

For those with the white z logo mats. Scotch guard them prior to using them. Will keep it white for a lot longer.
