ok, so one headlight went out.

about 1.5 weeks later the other went too!

do i replace both globes, (J spec) or do the H3 conversion or buy a HID kit.

I dont want to replace the H3c bulbs if they are just going to be crap too. and i wanna get out of it as cheap as possable.

obvious answer would be convert to H3!

But. i want something a bit better so i can actually see where im going at night rather than almost guessing. so what is the difference between H3 to HID?

is it worth the coin to go HIDs over some good H3 bulbs?

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

I blew my left headlight, replaced it, and it blew again a month later. So rather than sort out the issue, I went HIDs. With them so cheap and easy to install, there's no reason not to. Now I can actually see at night as well... stock Z32 lights are useless.

Check here for comparison and a good supplier.

On a similar note, will these fit Z parkers?

^^^ This! Get the 55W and have lights like BMWs and Audis ;) I love mine! Oh yes get 4300K for the best lighting result.

I just replaced my HID's so know that they can fail too, mine started going on the blink on one side so i just replaced the whole units.. but generally you'll get about 10 times more life and twice the brightness from HID's in comparison to normal globes. I'd say go 6000k 35w they are a nice colour combo and suit the Z perfectly IMO, they also go well with the 4 way white parker LED's and front fogs :D

I fitted 35w 8000k HID's for the H3's - nice colour but didn't light up the road enough... So then I fitted 35w 4300k's - absolutely brilliant! Lights up the road just great without pissing off any on-coming drivers. I wouldn't fit 55w HID's for the H3 - other drivers will throw stuff at you (way too bright). But I fitted 55w 6000k HIDs for the H1 - lights up the highway like a road train! I reckon HID's are the only way to go for the Z32!

buying a HID kit for low beam was the best money i have ever spent on my car i think. After driving home from Melbourne in the dark, during a storm with stock j spec low beam and a dodgey alternator. worst thing i have ever had to do in my life

I think most of us are just using the cheap Chinese eBay ones... they work great.
You should expect to pay not much. :p

Still a bit unsure about HID, how do you instantly use high beam if it takes a while to warm up ?

It takes a few seconds so it's not instant, but you do the pex mod so the low beams stay on while your high beams charge up. Pew pew!

so are these a simple plug and play? or do i need to bust out the soldering iron?

i would be prepaired to spend a small amount more if they are a direct plug in.

Pretty much plug in. Just have to mount the ballasts somewhere and trim the rubber boots around the globe holder a little bit.

I'm currently after some information on HID's.
I was thinking 55w 6000k... But totally unsure what size bulb to get!?
    H1 or H3 or H13??

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

H3 for j-specs, H3c for aus specs if I remember correctly.
I have 8000k 35watt HIDS, work awesomely ! Couldn't be happier with them.

Umm just looked at the other thread, and the guy who was selling it has this above the prices... "-HID Headlights/Fog Lights (Size H1-JDM OR 9006 USA/H3 FOG)"
Does this mean I need H1 bulbs?
