Hi Mate The dreams not gone mate, You've just gotta prove yourself, Belive me I'm a dad got 20 & 22 year old daughters, they made mistakes so they had to then prove they could do the right thing. make a deal with your Mum & Dad that if you can go for a selected time period maybe 6 or 12 mths without losing points / Licence then you can get a Zed Talk NA, being a parent myself I know I'd be more open to discussions on NA than TT, prove yourself in an NA then move to a TT. At the end of the day they just want thier son safe and well not laying in a Hospital bed on life support. Play the game do your bit and the dream will happen. Just be sensible behind the wheel, think twice before doing something dumb. Every action has a concequence think about the concequence before you do something dumb, I think you'll find you'll make the correct decision. Dave
Exactly. Took me 8 months to first convince my parents to let me get an NA (they didn't quite agree in the end, they just didn't say no when I bought my first one ) however I know that if ANYTHING happens i'm in deep. I've found the best policy though was to just be open an honest to them. ie. When I got done for doing a skid (first time I did a skid, though't I'd make the most of my near bald rear tyres) I honestly thought they would just murder me there and then, but I was honest and said that I'd learnt my lesson and while they were less than impressed they took it well and we were all happy with the outcome. 8 months later now and I've just bought my 4th Zed (although parents don't know about that one yet )
This is one of the reasons I moved out of home at 17 to the opposite end of the country. If i was back in Perth I'd still be chillin in Dad's old Hyundai Sonata
tell your parents to get bent, they sound like whiney little current affair watchers. buy a zed and then do donuts on the front lawn infront of their master bedroom, remind them why they regret having you!! in all seriousness, they wont let you get a zed, a safe and great handling car, but would let you get a 4x4? f'n morons, no offense. if it's your money, buy what you want. if it's theirs then put up with it.
Haahaha same My mum even drove mine home when I bought it from a copper in Shepparton because I was too scared lol
Not mine! Saw a TT for 6 grand the other day, it was clean too... I got more than 6 grand in fuel fittings almost! lol
I reckon good Z31's will be worth some decent coin. Specially two seaters And if I had a Zed as soon as I got my P's I'd be dead, or at least have a horrible horrible crash. I was bad enough in the 'rolla I waited and only had a semi horrible crash Drive a cheap hatchback for a while and save up for a nice Zed (or whatever other sports car you want)
yours is an exception because for some reason it reminds me of night rider haha. i feel your pain! sad that we will never recoup any of the money spent
Try do the same thing I did. Say it's a 3L V6 as opposed to a Falcon or Commy which have 4.0L and 3.8L engines. Tell them you'll have less power and better fuel economy. Also make a deal with them saying that you'll get one with an airbag at least. Good luck mate.
hehe, its funny you say that. Your parents would have to be completely clueless. my dad however knows cars so he knew (probably more so than me) what a 300 was capable of. I was 19 though and it took a small amount of convincing. The issue wasnt the power or price or any of the main reasons. It was the fact that i wasnt a "car person" ...well your not a car person until you get in there and have a go. So on a wing and a prayer i got my zed Love learning about it and fixing up little things. Even yesterday i pulled my tails out and one of the was never flush with the other, turns out it was just a loose screw or 2 As for you though, if its your money just put up all the reasons why and calmly talk it out then go buy one hehe :zlove: matt.
Well mum didn't have much of an idea, but dad knew I was bullshitting. In fact he said a few weeks before I got mine that he knew how powerful they were... I think all my nagging finally got through But like everyone's saying, if it's your money, tell them that. Your the one who's worked for it, you can spend it on what you like.
It's not an investment I want a return on, being over 20 years old and blowing the doors off almost anything is return enough!
Ahhhhhhh shushh you... It's more powerful than an Auto Falcon/Commy. Auto isn't my preference, 1997 is however
